Hi there. I have an idea for a story series that I wanted to title Be Careful What You Wish For, but upon checking specific categories I discovered that four different authors chose that title in BDSM and six authors chose it in Non Consent. (Thus proving that the story search feature, when clicking on advanced search for titles, doesn't work well.)

My first submission, a prequel, will go into the Letters & Transcripts category and is a letter that an aroused woman is writing in response to one she received from her new "pen pal".

In it, she admited that she has a rape fantasy and goes into detail about her desires. Over time, I planned to have the male character find where she is and begin to stalk her before "giving" her her fantasy. Thus the idea of "be careful what you wish for".

But, now that I know there are at least ten different stories with the same title I am starting to rethink it. Can anyone help brainstorm on a cool title for such a story? :)

Just reword it to whatever suits your fancy. If it was my story I would title it Wishing can bite you in the ass.

well first of all, if this is your first submission then how can it be a 'prequel'? instead it merely seems like the beginning of a long story, yeah?

but whatever
some basic title ideas:
Dreams may come?
Pen pal penchant
Unspoken response
Paula's prize / Rachel's reward (or whatever the fem characters name is)

if the story is more about a nonconsentual encounter, some different titles could be:
Forbidden desires
It wasn't supposed to be...
No! No! Yesss....
Unwanted

i don't think its absolutely vital that the title convey the gist of the story, since Lit will suplly a brief description anyway

"whatever the fem characters name is"

when I first started out, I used names in titles. Then more experienced writers suggested that I'd get more hits if the title was descriptive - with about 75 new stories/day, to draw an audience, you need to have instant appeal.

"Gone Postal" - the phrase tends to have bleak connotations and, although your main character mightn't be a homicidal mailman, it could work as a title for a story about a penpal relationship that goes awry.

"Getting Mailed" (as opposed to "Getting Nailed")

"Committed to Paper"

"Letters to a Nightmare"

Okay, so, yeah. "Prequel" was the wrong word. Prologue. Anyway, the author supplies the summary sentence, not Lit. And I don't like the "whatever name titles". Thanks though.

How about:

"Pen Pal"

"From Fantasy to Reality"

"Giving her fantasy"

"Never talk to strangers"

"Be careful who you trust"

What's the slogan for DisneyWorld?? "Dreams Really Do Come True".... Maybe a play on words? Cum instead of Come? Good luck hun! I look forward to reading it. :)

I had once thought of a series of stories along similar line - I doubt I'll ever get around to writing it, my title - open for the taking, was:

"Sinister Paradise"

Deserving what You Wish For
Just Deserts
Saying Too Much
Set Up
Accurate Response
Fantasy Yearnings, Unwelcome Reality

"Where there's a Wish, there's a Way."
"Wicked Wish of the West"
"Wishing Buddies"

Although, if there are already ten stories with the title you originally wanted, there is no harm in you supplying an eleventh!

I like the idea of being original. It wouldn't be so bad if mine was the only title in a certain category (like the first submission would be). :)

This has given me a vague idea for a story...

a woman in her late 20s-early 40's decides to correspond to one or two soldiers whilst they are deployed in Afghanistan...

One of the persons whom her introductory letter is given to a young female soldier.. And she replies

Over time their emails/correspondence become quite frank about sexual matters as the soldier is feeling rather frustrated in the war zone....

in such a letter the soldier complains that she is so desperate she would be happily to be rapped, and so the woman asks her to elaborate on her fantasy..

finally the six months tour is over and the young soldier returns to the uk, and the two agree to meet up in London for a drink...

unknown to t he soldier the woman is bisexual, and plans to 'rape ' her in a scenario similar to her fantasy....

the soldier is straight..

I will read your story later

I have not submitted anything yet, but I am a consumer of Literotica stories. When I look at a title, I don't want to have to solve a mystery or waste time reading half a page before I choose. I prefer specifics to vagaries, for instance "Linda's Pen Pal Turns the Tables" tells me a lot more than "Be Careful What You Wish For". Or maybe even "Linda's Pen Pal Becomes Her Stalker". Bet there ain't two of those on Literotica. LOL

I think someone else referenced this but -- Lit doesn't supply a tag line, the author does.

A title has to kind of straddle the line. I admit that a title such as "Debbie Fucks My Friends" lets you know what's going on, and serves to let me know I don't want to read it. To me, though, that's kind of lazy, so I try for a title that gives a hint, but doesn't give it away. Or a title that hopefully intrigues the reader to read a little.

I agree with you one hundred percent! The title should be catchy and not lazy. IMHO there is nothing lazier than using the character's name as part of the title! (Like the example you used or something like "Lucy's Desire" or whatever.)

I know when I've written stories in the past I've tried to be creative. I had a Halloween submission called A Game of Tricks and Treats and it was about a couple going to the husband's office Halloween party in "drag". (He dressed as a cheerleader and her dressed as a football player complete with her strap-on cock.)

I thought the title sounded better than "My Wife Fucked My Ass at the Halloween Party"
