This is strange, I know, but I'm looking for anyone who can tell me something about a quote ~ or better yet the person who posted it. I was very intrigued by it and read it to a friend. My friend is a playwright and is interested in possibly using it in her newest work.

The quote is: "A MISTRESS TO THE MAGICIANS,
A DANCER TO THE GODS."

My friend and I both would be greatful and thrilled if the writer or poster could give us some info about it.

I've tried to retrace my steps and find the post I read it in but I can't find it, this is a very busy board! I know I should have asked the person who posted it right away when I wrote the quote down but didn't! :(

Anyways, if anyone can help I'd be VERY greatful! Thanks!! :)

It's from a song by Cat Stevens -- Angelsea -- on his Catch Bull at Four album.

She moves like an angel
And seven evening stars
Dance through the window
Of her universal house

Her voice a crystal echo
Lies humming in your soul
So patiently awaiting
For your ears to behold

She ripples on the water
Leaves diamonds on the shore
And fish from every distance
Watch her ocean cellar door
Her breath a warm fire
In every lover's heart
A mistress to magicians
And a dancer to the gods
And a dancer to the gods

Her clothes are made of rainbows
And twenty thousand tears
Shine through the spaces
Of her golden ochre hair
Yes of her golden ochre hair
Ooh my babe I want you
And on my life I swear
My conscience will I follow you forever
If you meet me everywhere
Yes if you if you meet me everywhere.

It's a great song, and this has reminded me that I forgot to put his name to the quotation.

Sorry!

Creamy,

I really like Cat Steven's (Yusef Islam's) music.

What's this song mean to you?

Except for the hair color, it's me, Ramlick. It's the goddess within.

I own the album. Funny how Cat Stevens has so few plain old love songs. Most of them about big ideas. My favorites? Hard Headed Woman, Father and Son, Miles From Nowhere, The Wind, On The Road to Find Out, and a few more...

He writes a nice lyric and has an incredible knack for tune writing. His songs are rhythmically very inventive too.

My favorite songs are The Boy With The Moon And Star On His Head; Angelsea; Sad Lisa and Into White. I love the others, too, but those are my favorites.

I liked the fact that the "love songs" were more about universal love or divine love. Possibly Sister Ancilla Marie was right.

Thanks SO much!

I can't tell you how happy I am that you replied CreamyLady! My friend is going to be so greatful! The whole song is very beautiful, thanks for posting the whole thing!!! :):):)

No problem, Elaine. It is a great song, and I highly recommend buying the CD -- it's worth it!
