Looking for a story I read a few years back. It was one of those "car's too full, you'll need to sit on their lap" stories, although in this iteration it was between cousins with the mom driving.
I think it was a two-part series, female cousin is being driven to college and sits on the male cousin's lap. At the end of the first chapter it's revealed the mom who's driving knows what's been happening. Part two she takes a more active role in telling them what to do.
