The beginning and middle are iffy but here goes:
A man finds out one of his kids isn't his or that his wife is cheating on him. He leaves a cd/tape/video/note for each of them. He takes his dog for a walk and saves the dog from falling or just falls off a cliff/ledge/mountain. A family on a walk discovers his dog who leads them to the body. Time skip and his daughter, who I believe is a lesbian, is getting married near the cliff/spot he was found.
It's driving me crazy that I can't find the story.
