When I got married 24 years ago, I carried a bouquet of irises and planted a bunch of them in my front flower garden. They usually bloom about a week before my wedding anniversary (today), but this year between the pup's digging in the beds last year, the hens' nesting in it and the nasty late frost, the flowers didn't come up (just the leaves) and I'd resigned myself to having no irises this year.

Well, today when I left for work, there was one lonely stem with a dark purple flower bud. Silly, but it makes me feel better somehow.

Someone could be telling your to spank the puppies, put the hens back in the pen, and to cover up the plants before the frost.

Or

That one little iris could be the most hardy and beautiful of them all and blooming just for you.

:rose:

The pup's no longer with us, the hens fly over the fence or are sneaking out somehow, and yeah, we should have covered them. We did manage to get the sage, oregano and rosemary protected.

Glynndah likes :
activity, mysteries, secrets, winning, sex, being acknowledged, and her home.

Dislikes:
being analysed  , being asked personal questions, too many compliments, and having to trust a stranger.

On irises, they do not like being disturbed - they tend to go dormant and throw up only leaves. Cane them off from disturbance and they will reward you next year with a glorious display.

Dear Ken the Seer: Pretty close with most and off on a few. As far as the irises go, I planted them about 5 years ago and now they're on their own. So far that policy of benign neglect has served us both quite well. Glynndah

I was off? Unusual.

Mm. Back to the crystal ball, methinks.

Just a little and most were perfect. (Probably a tiny bit of dust on that crystal ball)

Which only goes to show that nature, like hope, springs eternal.

Happy Anniversary, pretty witch. :rose:

Dusts off crystal ball.

Okay, Glynndah's negative characteristics, for when she is in a bad mood (don't huff, woman!)

Ruthless, suspicious, jealous, possessive, dangerous, quick tempered, obstinate -very!, moody- oh yeah!, intolerant, and vindictive.

How did I do? :)

Scratch "jealous" and "possessive" off the list and you're doing quite well. Of course, none of those apply to a good little witch.

Thank you, kind sir. A  from the bride of long past and a good little witch.

A  for a maiden who answers a chain
with words or interest and not inane!

Thank you. I save the inane for real life. This is Lit, always worth finding the interesting words.

Words of interest and symbols as well,
make Lit a place of fun for a spell.
