Looking for great writing in different genres

I didn't start reading Literotica stories until a few years ago. I feel a little lost digging through about 20 years of stories to find the ones that are examples of strong writing both in structure and in the way they titilate the audience.

Just because a story makes it too the Hall of Fame, doesn't necessarily mean it's a great example of its genre. I was hoping other posters would share their preferred genres and some exemplary stories?

For example, I've been working my way through an eleven year old series lately, "Any Chance We Could." I normally get turned off by father-daughter stories but the way the author drags out the attraction and builds toward small rewards for the main character works pretty well without the story dragging. The protagonist has certain kinks I don't share but I can enjoy through his eyes.

You may disagree with my opinion on this series but I'm curious what other authors are seeing as great examples of their preferred genre lately, especially given the sheer volume of the back catalogue.

(The tags archive has been awesome but it's still tough for one person to digest so many stories or nail the tags the author was thinking of when they submitted a story).

Just as a different option, might I suggest that you find an author whose works you like and hit their name on Lit to see who they like.

In addition to TP's spot on suggestion:

There are some threads in the forum (this list is non-exhaustive)

The Good Reads sticky
The New Story Advertisements sticky
Best Incest Stories thread

The quality of the suggested reading is very high and you'll get an intersection of authors recommending their own and others' works.

I'm piss-poor at self promotion so excuse my clumsiness; I've admittedly never read "Any Chance We Could" but your description leads me to think that you might enjoy my father daughter novel "Counting Pennies" and subsequent novels "Investing Time" and "Spending Dollars".

Another idea: if you're active in other parts of the forum, you might also ask other users with similar interests to yours what they've read that they enjoy.

Happy hunting!

You could try Stephen King. Oddly enough that guy can write his way around a sex scene. That one in Salem’s Lot was a formative experience for young me.

You've asked for recommendations from others. The Web site gives that to you. Each category listed on the "Stories" menu has a "most popular authors" listing. That gives you what you're asking for--recommendations from a compilation of readers on what authors generate the most favorable responses in each category. You can try them out until you find authors in each category you click on who write in a way that floats your individual boat. This is a more assured approach that just throwing out a very general and loose request on the discussion board for recommendations.
