I have a story of about 23 000 words spanning several categories, including:
1 Erotic couplings - mostly straight sex and some lesbian action)
2 Group sex, 1 man and 2 women
3 Fantasy (Mythical Greco-Roman role play)
4 Bondage (as part of fantasy roleplay)
PLOT: The events took place in the Kruger National Park in South Africa late December 2020 at the start of the second wave of Covid-19 infections. The male character is an amateur astronomer (who explores heavenly bodies) interested in taking pictures of The Great Conjunction (Jupiter overtaking Saturn in the night sky) through his telescope.
He is discovered by the one female character who initially thought that he is a peeking Tom. She got interested in the event and telescope and this is where the story starts to develop.
Personal background:
I am an adult male from South Africa with English my second language (Afrikaans is my first language). I want to share the story with the larger group of English readers, therefore writing in English.
I am an engineer and are used to technical writing - which is as dry as dust...
History of the story:
I started the story off in Afrikaans with about 5000 to 8000 words. Stories in Afrikaans are mostly in the simple present tense.
I used Google translate to translate into English. The translation retained the simple present tense.
I added some twists - the most significant the mythical Greco-Roman role play and the story escalated to its current size.
I attempted to convert all simple present tense sentences into simple past tense for easier reading in English, but after 5x iterations still found relics of present perfect tense.
Request:
I need an editor to help with:
- Grammer: to ensure easy and error free reading.
- Rephraseing: to spice up my bone dry writing style
- Removing localisms: Some statements/concepts may be used locally which may be lost on the international reader. These need to be identified and rewritten for the benefit of the international reader. I would however want to retain a local flavor.
- Teacher: I wouldn't mind an editor who are willing to give guidance so that I can improve my writing skills for future stories.
