looking for an author and story

Hi Folks,

Im here asking a silly question but Im stuck and don't know were else to look.

I'm looking for a story I can't remember the name or author for. It was quite long and starts out with a legless, one eyed, one fingered vet being plugged into a video game where he becomes this warrior. He finds out the "game" is real and the device they plugged him into is extra terrestrial. He ends up challenging dragons, championing peoples in the new worlds etc. He gets a new body. His girlfriend is a Dr who becomes a valkyrie they have a kid...its a bit messed up plot wise but still good

It was a good story, though the author was getting bogged down and burnt out I think. I would love to find it again and see if he/she wrote more or gave up.

The author's handle was Mad something...Madwolf/Maddog idk.

Any Help would be appreciated!
