Hey there,
I remember reading a story wherein a number of members of the public all disappear at the same time (similar in idea to the 4400 etc.) and are put in an experiment (possible aliens?)
The main character (male) wakes up in a room that looks like a hotel room I think with a single door (lift? elevator?) and people arrive or he has to leave and visit others, and the people involved have a certain amount of time to pleasure the other person or their vision goes red I think? And they experience pain. The abductees live in this experiment for a long time (don't remember how long) and the main character finds his soulmate and they fall in love, but of course are seperated after the alloted time.
The experiment eventually ends and the people are returned to their lives. Chatrooms and forums are started for survivors of the experiment and eventually the main character manages to find his true love again in real life.
If anyone remembers reading this story I've been looking for it for months now.
