I realize this can mean anything and everything. For me it means honesty, fairness, curiosity, intelligence, and a craving for responsive conversations back and forth. All things that should be most normal and self-evident in life, but which have become rather the exception lately.
No point in musing now, why the world has changed so much. I suspect some very concrete driving factors and so will you for sure. What matters is: when you and I get together, we won’t allow the trend of the time to affect us. We treat each other fairly and honestly, and we will respond to each other’s words. And intelligence & curiosity are in fact part of your make-up and of mine.
Now why do I come here looking for a connection, and why might you do that? I hope for exactly the same reasons: we long, no we yearn for true companionship with a dear person on the other side of the internet. Because with the partner we have at home, this is no longer possible. People tend to change over time, and what looked like a marriage made in heaven once, no longer is one.
But I suspect you have developed strong “roots” to the most important people in your life by now, and so have I. And as a result, what you and I can do now is write each other mails, but not elope with each other.
At first hand this may not look like much, but as experience has shown me, e-mails can make the difference between a dreary life and a happy one. IF in fact both mail partners see that brain between our ears as the most significant sexual organ we possess, AND IF we know how to use it.
Not only for sex, or for sex in different forms also. I think of it as love-making with you, when we stroke and caress each other’s souls for instance, or when you or I throw out a new idea to the other, which gets our minds moving in an unexpected direction. “Mind tingling” as that can be described, may be an intellectual exercise, but it also entails love-making, when it happens between you and me.
That is how I like to look at it, at least. And I hope you see it the same way.
For me, a day simply begins on a happier note, when I see your mail in my IN box upon waking up. And I hope you see this the same way as I do. What I am proposing we add to our life may be a “little thing” only, in the sense of Kitty Kallen’s song from 1954, but I am counting on that little thing meaning a lot to both of us.
