Read this one some time back.
The story centres around U S lawyers. The wife is working in a top line firm and to get to the top she realises she has to sleep with one of the partners, he’s a real pussyhound. The husband a public defender, overhears his wife and the partner arranging the assignation in a bar.
The husband waits for her to do the deed, and she does, and he confronts her when she gets the job she is after. The husband tells her their marriage is over. She falls apart, admits the affair and is kicked out.
The head of the firm tells her her marriage is too important to lose it for her work would be awful, he tell her to save her marriage
However the husband is injured in an accident and isn’t able to file and she moves back in to help him. He reluctantly accepts her help. But insists the divorce will proceed.
In helping him she runs her own health down and suffers acute depression as the consequences of her actions hit home. In a turnabout he has to help her to recover her health. He does so, and realises he loves her and gives her another chance, they reconcile.
