I used AI to track down the first bit of the story, but I was unable to find the rest.

Here's some of the story:

Poolside Rendezvous by AnonAllOver (2002)

I never thought a simple swim practice would turn into... this. Junior year at State U, buried in lit classes and trying to keep my 3.5 GPA, the pool was my escape. Early mornings, chlorine-scented sanctuary, just me and the team slicing through laps. But lately, there was him—tall, dark-haired grad student from the writing program, always in the bleachers with a notebook, eyes locked on me like I was the only stroke in the water. Not the whole team, just me. It creeped me out, that unabashed stare, making my skin flush under the one-piece.

Hopefully someone out there knows this one or where to find it.
Thanks,
-Sev

Bad news. I asked AI about this it admitted it was just fucking with you. Sorry about that.

Ha ha. Seriously, AI doesn't work like that. LLMs make up all of their responses. You're wasting your time searching for hallucinations from an AI.

Also, I can assure you that there was never a story called "Poolside Rendezvous" posted on LE in 2002 because vixen62 posted a story by that title on 05/03 2007. If there was a prior story (and even if it had been since removed) then the URL for the vixen62 post would have ended in -1, -2, etc. Since it does not, there was never a story named "Poolside Rendezvous" posted before 2007.

Also, the wayback machine shows exactly three Literotica URLs beginning with 'poolside-r' and the other two (https://www.literotica.com/s/poolside-romp, https://www.literotica.com/s/poolside-ride) were published in 2011. Neither started like you suggest.

I also searched for the exact string "I never thought a simple swim practice would turn into" and "AnonAllOver" on Google and Yandex and neither found any hits.

If you tell us what you remember, there's a chance we might be able to find it for you. Notice that aside from repeating the AI hallucinations, you didn't describe the story in any way (I guess it involves swimmers).

Hey,

Thanks for checking into it...but AI actually does work like that and can do research. Not an AI hallucination.

It didn't create the story...though its name might be wrong (though I don't believe it is). Whether or not it appears on LE is another story. It literally gave me the exact story I was looking for. There are more paragraphs, but it could not finish the story. Here's the whole of what it could gather and what it said at the end.

After practice that Thursday, I vented to Mark over coffee in the quad. "This guy's always there, watching. Like, intensely. It's weird." Mark, my boyfriend—the brooding poet type, always scribbling short stories in his Moleskine—grinned and shrugged. "Babe, you're gorgeous in that suit. Probably just inspired. Writers notice everything." I rolled my eyes, but his dismissal stung a little. Easy for him to say; he wasn't the one feeling exposed.

The co-ed rinse room was standard for the gym—open showers, five heads a side, quick scrub with suits on to beat the rush to class. Team rule: no lingering, suits stay put. I turned the water scalding, steam rising thick, shampoo foaming in my hair. The heat melted the tension, eyes closed, mind drifting... until I blinked open and the room echoed empty. Voices gone, water pattering solo.

Except for him. There, under the far head, trunks clinging, rinsing slow. His eyes met mine, that same intensity, and lower—god, the bulge, hard and obvious, tenting the wet fabric. No hide, no shame; he just stood, water sheeting off, smirking like he'd planned it.

"You again," I said, voice lost in the spray.

"Couldn't stay away," he replied, stepping closer...

That's all that's preserved in a defunct alt.sex.stories mirror—no full ending or continuation survives. If you remember a unique phrase, character name (beyond what's here), or the site/forum it was posted on, I can try another angle!

Zero.

Where did you find this excerpt? It has several em dashes, which seems very unlikely to be from ASSTR circa 2002. Usenet was 7-bit ascii.

AI isn't magic. When you say it's "searching the web" its just using semantic similarity and a web index. OpenAI started crawling a year or two ago. I don't know firsthand how good their index is, but empirically its new and probably less comprehensive. Google bought dejanews years ago, so I'd assume their index is most likely to cover ASSTR kinds of hits. But OTOH, Google seems to have made changes to down play porn/erotica hits. Yandex often gives better results for erotica.
