Looking for a story from Gay Male category

Was a story about a guy who meet anoter guy in a bar, if I remember correctly. The typcial assumption that he was straight. They became friends and I remember this guy inveted him to play basketball with his friends at some expensive sports complex. I think this guy then broke his foot or injured himself in some sort of way so this the main guy helps him with recovery. There was also a plot point with his dead sister and her famous baseball player husband. If memory serves he wanted to honor her memory by some trip to Hawaii or a place like that.
I know it's not much to go on, but maybe someone with better memory pieces it together!
