Looking for a story but I can't find it.

I read this story a while ago, and I remember it being quite long. However I cannot remember the name of the story for the life of me. I do remember however, that the story was about two teenagers boy/girl and the girls mother. They all end up falling in love, and towards the end of the story the daughters mother dies, and the girl gets pregnant and somehow the girl and the guy are able to move on without the mom. If you know what the name of that story is (Yes I know its a vague description, but after months of searching I'm finally gonna see if anyone might know of this story), please let me know. Thanks

That was The Smurfs. They made it into a movie, but as usual, the movie wasn't as good as the book.
