Looking for a story about a troubled man who learns he has a daughter.

I read this story some time ago, and I can't recall the title for the life of me. It was under the romance tag, and after spending a bit of time trying to find it, I decided to come here.

The story is about a man who has both anger issues and drinking issues. He has had various run ins with the law, even though the sheriff is either his uncle or knew his parents. The man is a veteran, and was awarded a medal for saving some people. He comes to learn that he has a daughter, and slowly he begins to clean up his act by stopping drinking, covering some tattoos and cleaning himself up. He and the social worker who is checking to see if his daughter can live with him eventually develop feelings for each other.

At the end of the story there's some drama because the lawyers who have custody of the girl want her inheritance, and try to sabatoge the man.

This maybe wrong but could not see how to post my search. Last night I read a great story on here but forgot to mark it. A rape in Scotland in 1800's started a tradition at 18 a male is gifted a women from town to train him in sex for a year when husband is traveling. End in a divorce from husband. And some revenge.
