I am not sure this story is contained here, but since this is such a broad collection, ,thought I would take a shot. The story is by an anonymous (at least to me) author, and stopped abruptly, just when it was becoming more interesting.
Entitled "How Lisa Took Charge", The story line is a first person narrative by a 46 year old mother of two boys,aged 18 and 16, and a girl, 14. The girl was a very bright student who was letting her grades slip through what is best described as an apathetic Lez e' faire
attitude towards eighth grade. The mother, in an effort to motivate her underachieving daughter, devised a sort of bet, as follows:
The girl was entirely responsible for setting up her own study periods; Mom and Dad would say nary a word.
If Lisa received even one C on her last semester grades, she would attend summer school, but if she got all B's, she would rule the household for a week. And each A she earned would increase her reign by one week.
If she got all A's, which it turns out she did, then she as to be put in charge until the New Year. It is my hope that someone has seen this story posted here or on some other story site.
