Looking for a patient editor

Hello everyone

I'm looking for an editor for a rather large story I'm currently writing. I just recently started the actual writing but have been making preparations and collecting ideas/snippets for some time now.

I've planned on several parts, with each part consisting of 5 chapters, and each chapter consisting of 10 scenes of which each focuses on a single character (very similar to the style of ASoIaF). Each scene is currently estimated at around 1k words, which would make each chapter 10k words and each part 50k words long.

The story will touch on several different themes/categories:

• Erotic Couplings
• Erotic Horror (can get very nasty and downright inhuman here, what I've planned is nothing for weak nerves)
• Exhibitionist & Voyeur
• Gay Male (unlikely but still possible - I'm considering leaving the gender of the male protagonist's romantic interest open to readers' choice at a certain point of the story)
• Group Sex
• Interracial Love
• Lesbian Sex
• Non-Erotic (many chapters will fall in this category since I have a rather extensive plot in mind)
• NonHuman (the male protagonist is a dragon... so yeah, this is pretty big ^^)
• Romance
• Sci-Fi & Fantasy (the beginning of the story is taking place in an ancient, high-magic kingdom, the rest will be modern with fantasy elements intermixed)

I'm looking for an editor who is willing to help me with:

• grammar, spelling and punctuation (obviously ^^)
• choice of words (finding the cheesy/repetitive things)
• feedback on the story and its pacing/progress
• finding plot holes (this is my personal proud nail - I can't stand plot holes and would really like someone to take a veeeeery close look at my story and point out all the missing/illogical stuff to me)

I'm using Scrivener, so I can provide the completed parts of the story in pretty much any desired format (*.txt, *.doc, *.odt, *.pdf, *.rtf, *.epub, *.mobi, *.tex). I know that the scope probably sounds rather intimidating, but it will be chopped down into small ~1k words chunks so it should be manageable.

I can already provide a semi-finished roadmap of the plot if someone's interested.

(You are also asking for quite a commitment for a volunteer editor. It probably will be someone who loves what you've already written.)

Uhm, I would agree with the other poster, that sounds like a lot of work for a volunteer editor.

Sorry, but what you're asking for is a paid gig. And while it does sound interesting, I have enough on my plate already, professionally speaking, as a writer, to be interested enough to take on this project on a volunteer basis.

Perhaps there is a family member or friend who has already read the story and likes it or you enough to devote their time. Otherwise, get ready to pay up. Sorry.

Some volunteer editors do edit the way the op outlined but finding this kind of editor is probably not easy because they may be editing paid projects.
