The main character gets a call from his daughter. She’s not in school because she’s shopping with a friend, but now her call won’t start. He leaves work to fix it. After he gets it running and she’s left, he sees his wife’s car parked at a motel across the street. It’s a place that’s no where near her work, his work, or their home. The only reason they would normally be on that side of town is to shop at the mall. Without their daughter’s car breaking down, he would have never known. He’s pretty positive why she’s there.
I don’t remember the confrontation. I do basically remember it’s the first and only time she’s strayed.
