Hi, I'm looking for a story that I read recently where the LW falls for a handsome and confident/arrogant client of her firm (I think it was a law firm). Initially she refuses to cheat with the lothario but he persuades her to ask her husband for a hall pass at a company function. She dances with the lothario and his companion for the night stays seated with the husband, who suspects there is more afoot and does not take the more predictable option to ask the lothario's partner to dance. When the lothario returns to the table with the LW he proposes to take the LW away for the night or weekend, and waits for the husband's response. After a long pause the MC (husband) replies simply, "No." the lothario says that he should ask the LW but the MC refuses, saying that (as a result of the preceding activities and stratements) the marriage was hanging by a thread and should she reply in the wrong way it would be dead without hope of recovery. The LW then firmly declines the offer and says she wants to stay with her husband and they return home, althought both are very conscious that very serious damage has been done to their marriage and relationship. After significant work they stabilise their relationship, however the lothario approaches the Partners of the firm and requests the services of the LW personally to work on his account. The partners put carreer pressure on her to accept. To her credit she refuses and only agrees to consider it after discusion with the MC. Although it is clear he is not happy, he tells her that he trusts her. She agrees and goes to work with the lothario on behalf of her company. They achieve some success and there is a celebration of sorts where she is invited to attend, but without the MC. After discssion with the MC she goes, despite the MC warning that these circumstances make her extremely vulnerable. She attends and she succumbs to the lothario's advances, believing that she is far away enough that the MC won't discover, and rationalising that it would only be one time. She returns home the nest day and the MC tells her that he called her room in the middle of the night and she didn't pick up. Unable to lie she defaults to the "it was only sex" argument and the situation unwinds to a divorce. I loved rthe story because it illustrated the potential for even a mature, educated, worldly wise and truly loving partner, could fall in the right - or wrong -circumstances - and end up blowing everything for an experience that in hindsight, was so not worth it. Any help in finding the story would be greatly appreciated, I would like to let the author know how much I enjoyed their writing.
