Looking for a long multi-part story about dark elves/drow

Trying to find a bunch of stories I read years ago. It was a long extended series and each segment had a one-word title, maybe beginning with S? First book may have been called ‘Subterranean’? Another one maybe ‘Surfacing’? Something like that but neither show up to searches. Female protagonist, I think she was royalty, heavily matriarchal society, males were kept as slaves and breeding stock. She eventually ended up undertaking a perilous mission to the surface.

I remember them always being in the top lists in the categories of either Sci-Fi & Fantasy, or Nonhuman (I can’t remember which now) but it’s been years and I can’t find them now.
