Ever see the movie Red Rock West? it has a good twist, not quite the erotic thriller, but mistaken identity, money, seductive wives...
there is also a really good scenerio developed in one of the Red Shoe Diaries - about an assassin who is hired by a husband to kill the wife and the wife to kill the husband. Both of them think the other is about to be killed, but not knowing when or where. the thought makes each of them very horny for one another, rekindling their relationship... making each starting to regret they hired the hit man, but now having no way of contacting him to stop it...
what is the story idea about? is it about revenge of the husband and thus some bdsm/non-concent story? Is it about a cheating wife who uses people to get what she wants, including to murder her husband? is it about love rediscovered after the fear of death/murder?
the wife seduces husband's best friend to kill him, but botches the job. to get revenge the husband has the best friend gang raped by a bunch of thugs and left for dead in some alley then plans some revenge for the wife?
Or the wife seduces the friend to kill the husband and another to kill the friend and so on till one guy realizes the chain and that he will be next in line to be knocked off?
has some interesting potential, needs direction and some idea of what underlying tension you want to bring to the forefront...

why isn't the other way around "erotic"? and what makes catching a spouse in bed with another "erotic"? just because it includes sex?

No, I didn't mean just the sex, but what happens around the sex ("Desperate Housewives" stuff).
It can be the other way in a "Kill Bill" scenario.
