I had a story saved years ago that I was reminded of tonight and want to reread. I've unfortunately lost my pdf and can't remember the title. I know it was one word and my brain keeps trying to come up with words like pygmilion or evangelion (which are obviously wrong), but makes me think that it ended with -ion.
It's a dystopian sci fi story where criminals get locked into latex suits and totally shunned/isolated from society for their sentence. The suits have a featureless mask and are all encompassing.
The suit has an ai which punishes them for anything against the rules or attempted contact with other people. A reporter thinks there's something sinister going on so she purposefully breaks the law to get put into a suit. Her punishment is extended and then something strange happens with the artificial intelligence in the suit... (I could provide more synopsis but I don't want to spoil it for others if it is posted!)
One of the major characters is named Winter. It's an old story, minimum 5 years and probably longer.
If anybody could point me towards this story again I'd be eternally grateful! It's on the tip of my tongue and hours of searching hasn't gotten anywhere. Thank you!
