With her backpack slouched at her legs, Aly waited for the bus to pull into the terminal. It was only around 1pm, and the bus was already a half hour late. Thankfully it was summer, so the weather outside was gorgeous. The sun was shining, and she was able to wear a t-shirt. A few people had sat down next to her on the bench, and in no time at all she had them all deep in conversation.

After a good while a rumbling sound was heard and sure enough the bus pulled up. After stopping and letting loose a few passengers, Aly made her way up the stairs and into the AC filled bus. She glanced down the rows... and for the love of God there wasn't one seat available. Well, she did find one person who looked like they were saving the seat, but Aly decided to inquire anyways.

"Is this seat saved?" she asked as she pushed some of her brown hair behind her ear.

Maggie sat on the bus, looking at the new people coming aboard. It was a full bus ride, and was praying the person that would be seated next to her, wouldnt smell as strange and might be a bit more interesting. Her messenger bag sat in her lap, like she was hiding something, but she wasnt.

She saw a few people walk on and sit down until a young woman walked up and Maggie looked down, being the last seat available. She looked up at the pretty young woman who asked about the seat next to her and she paused and said softly,
"oh..no..please...have a seat"
she smiled nicely and watched the new stranger.

"Oh..no..please...have a seat" the girl said. Aly smiled as she sat in the seat, letting her bag rest on the floor between her feet. The difference in temperature made her shiver once, and Aly couldn't help but giggle.

"They do know how to make these buses freezing cold, don't they?" she said to the girl next to her. She seemed like she was around her own age, probably a year or two younger. Her hair was the same color, except Aly didn't have any red streaks to hers. After a moment or two the bus jerked forward and hit the major road.

"I'm Aly." she said as she looked over.

She saw the girl next to her sit down and shiver gently. She was deffinately cute but didnt know if she "swang that way" and didnt want to be insulting. She then moved her bag to the ground as well. And looked over smiling.

"yes, it's been pretty cold on here for awhile, but it beats the heat" she said kindly. This new girl looked young and just full of life, very happy and her eyes were a dazzling blue colour.

She nodded hearing the girls name, Aly. She put her hand out.
"i'm Maggie, nice to meet you." and she looked back at Aly.

"I'm Maggie, nice to meet you." Aly caught as Maggie extended her hand and Aly shook it politely.

"yes, it's been pretty cold on here for awhile, but it beats the heat"

"Aw, I like the summer. I mean sure it's nice to go inside a cool place, but nothing beats the sun." Aly said in opposition to Maggies claim. Bending forward a bit Aly opened up her backpack and pulled out her disc player and headphones.

"So," she said as she sat upright again. "can I ask where you're from?" Aly finished as she set her stuff on her lap and reclined in her seat.

Maggie shook her hand softly but firm. Her hands were soft, it was nice.

"Aw, I like the summer. I mean sure it's nice to go inside a cool place, but nothing beats the sun."

Maggie smiled realized Aly liked being outdoors, made her happy since she did too. As Aly grabbed her cd player Maggie grabbed her book and glasses case setting them next to her.

"can I ask where you're from?"
She responded not realizing she was going to talk, thinking she was going to put her headphones and get some sleep. but she responded quickly though,
"i'm from Chicago, just traveling around the east coast a bit. And yourself?" she asked softly looking over at Aly becoming a bit more curious about this pretty girl.

"I'm from Chicago, just traveling around the east coast a bit. And yourself?"

Aly had reclined in her seat with her stuff on her lap.

"Chicago, huh? I've never been there." Aly scratched her head as she smiled.

"I'm not really going anywhere. I mean this bus has a last stop, but I'll spend some time there before heading off again." she said simply.

"Just taking some time to myself, ya know? Where the road leads sorta thing. I figure I'd meet new people like you and see new things."

"Chicago, huh? I've never been there."

"I'm not really going anywhere. I mean this bus has a last stop, but I'll spend some time there before heading off again."

Maggie nodded her head as she spoke. It made sense to go around see things and have some fun. Basically what she was doing as well.
"I dont mean to be too bold but, where would you be 'heading off again' " she asked timidly, she wanted to know more about Aly but didnt want to be to invasive.

"Just taking some time to myself, ya know? Where the road leads sorta thing. I figure I'd meet new people like you and see new things."

She smiled a tiny bit hearing that. Maggie was glad to be one of the 'new people' Aly got to meet on her journey. Maggied pulled her book and glasses onto her lap and waited for Aly's answer.

"I dont mean to be too bold but, where would you be 'heading off again'?" Aly heard Maggie ask as she held onto her book.

"Um... I don't know, honestly. I hadn't thought about that." Aly said almost sorrowfully. She had her headphones resting on her neck with her cd player turned off.

"I... hrm. I'm not sure." Aly said again with a giggle. She lifted her head up to look at the ceiling of the bus and tried to think of places she could go.

"You wouldn't be able to suggest a few places, would you?" Aly asked.

Maggie listened to Aly speak. She understood what she meant by not sure of where to go. When she was on her big 'college search' during high school she didnt know where to go. Aly's giggle was so cute she thought to herself.

"You wouldn't be able to suggest a few places, would you?"
Maggie thought for a moment about Aly's question.

"well, i personally love Chicago, so i guess i can recomend Chicago"
she laughed softly. She hadnt gotten out much.
"Milwaukee, is pretty cool it's like a mini-chicago. But where would you want to go...thats the question."
She said it plainly, Maggie was a big advocate of doing what you want and for your own reasons. She looked Aly up and down a bit while Aly's head was titled upward and then looked back down at her lap still holding her book.

"well, i personally love Chicago, so i guess i can recomend Chicago. Milwaukee, is pretty cool it's like a mini-chicago. But where would you want to go...thats the question."

"Hrm, well I guess I can go to Chicago, if it's as good as you say it is." Aly said with a smile as she looked back at Maggie. She looked at her lap and noticed the book.

"Whatcha reading?" Aly asked. She hoped she wasn't being too inquisitive but she couldn't really help herself. She liked asking questions and liked finding out about people.

She thought about Chicago and how she wouldnt mind to much of taking Aly with her. She didnt know Aly well, but she loved her city and sharing it with everyone. She then saw Aly look at her book and ask her nicely,
"Whatcha reading?"

She looked at her book and then up at Aly.
"ooh it's umm... the history of homosexuality."
Maggie said it and prayed Aly wouldnt flip out and think she was werid. She blushed and kinda looked down trying to cover-up the rainbow flag patch she had on her messenger bag, it's not that she was ashamed of it, but she didnt want to make the bus ride with Aly awkward.

"ooh it's umm... the history of homosexuality."

That caught Aly by surprise. Not too many people would have a book like that just out in the open. Curious, Aly decided to dig a little deeper. Maggie looked a little flushed, and Aly was also surprised at that.

"Well now there's a subject of discussion." Aly said with a giggle. "So, what's your interest in it? Do you have a... oh." Aly was about to finish asking when she noted the ribbon. She glanced back up at her with a smile on her face, finally getting it. It might take Aly a while to realize the obvious, but she does get there.

"Aw you don't have to be embarassed about it. Trust me, a lot of my close friends are same-sex oriented." Aly said, hoping her words were at least comforting.

She waited for Aly to turn and get silent and have the rest of the day be awkward. But it didnt get awkward, and she saw Aly's rather cute smile and Maggie smiled back.

"Aw you don't have to be embarassed about it. Trust me, a lot of my close friends are same-sex oriented."
she heard Aly say. It made her feel better, and then realized Aly was straight and it's not that she had gotten her hopes up but that she thought there might have been a chance there.

"It's not that i'm embarrassed...i just didnt want to freak you out, some people dont take my being a lesbian very easily."
Maggie felt better that it was out there now.
"I'm just happy you understand, as a straight woman, and dont flip out and immediatly think i'm weird"
She blushed as she said it. Maggie needed to realize that she should think before she speaks and she blushed a bit, looking down again.

"It's not that i'm embarrassed...i just didnt want to freak you out, some people dont take my being a lesbian very easily. I'm just happy you understand, as a straight woman, and dont flip out and immediatly think i'm weird"

"I don't freak out easily. I mean you'd have to show me a bucket full of spiders and stuff to get me creeped out." Aly said with a shiver at the thought.

straight woman

"Hrm? Well, see that's an off statement." Aly confessed. "See, I've had boyfriends before... but well I guess men just don't hold my fancy." Aly added

"Hrm? Well, see that's an off statement.See, I've had boyfriends before... but well I guess men just don't hold my fancy."

Maggied looked over at her when she said this slightly confused. Was she implying she was bi-sexual or what?

"I'm really sorry...i just guessed you were straight..." she said in a very appologetic tone.
"I didnt mean to jump to conclusions..sorry....but may i ask what you mean by that?"
she asked it nicely, Aly seemed like a nice enough girl to not snap at her to badly if she was being rude.

"I'm really sorry...i just guessed you were straight..." she said in a very appologetic tone.

"It's ok, most people assume I'm straight because they think only in terms of stereotypes." Aly said with a shrug.

"I didnt mean to jump to conclusions..sorry....but may i ask what you mean by that?"

"Well, I guess today you'd define my sexuality as being bisexual... but i've pretty much given up on the male species. They're just a bunch of dicks." Aly said with a chuckle.

Maggie felt kinda bad for assuming so things about her so soon, and her facial expressions showed it a little. But she was right about her being bi-sexual, a lot of girls were when they were drunk and would just kiss girl and said they were bi, Aly was more real, and sincere, Maggied like that a lot and she cheered up a bit.

"Well, I guess today you'd define my sexuality as being bisexual... but i've pretty much given up on the male species. They're just a bunch of dicks."

Maggie giggled. "no pun intended right?" and she laughed a bit more.
"I never really liked men, dated boys when i was in 8th and 9th grade but that was so people wouldnt think i'm a freak. But now i dont really care what people think, or i try not too." she smiled at her. and paused for a moment.
"Hope you dont mind me asking....but umm..uhh..." and she stalled for a second "are you seeing anyone at the moment." and she blushed hard, it had been so long since she had even thought about flirting and she was just goin' for it.

"Actually I thought that little stab there was clever." Aly said with a smile. Yeah that was an old joke, but it was still pretty funny.

"Hope you dont mind me asking....but umm..uhh..." Maggie started to say, just as Aly was about to put her headphones on, "are you seeing anyone at the moment."

Aly looked for a moment at Maggie, and the girl was flushed like a fresh apple. It was rather cute.

"No, actually. My life was just too hectic before to get attached to anyone. And with all the travelling, it's a turnoff apparently. Why?"

"No, actually. My life was just too hectic before to get attached to anyone. And with all the travelling, it's a turnoff apparently. Why?"

She looked up at Aly, her cheeks still red and she didnt know what to say. But she got some words together.
"oh umm..because i'm not seeing anyone either..and you're cute..oh..nevermind....err uhh...i'll let you just listen to your music...sorry i said anything..." she said it all quickly, and a bit nervously. She was usually more dominant and stronger when it came to things like this, but for some reason Aly made her more nervous and jittery, this had never happened before with Maggie.

"oh umm..because i'm not seeing anyone either..and you're cute..oh..nevermind....err uhh...i'll let you just listen to your music...sorry i said anything..."

Aly looked confused as Maggie became all flustered, her sentences becoming all mingled together till she finally stopped talking. It took Aly a second before she smiled,

"Well um... I guess I'm sorry if I was leading you on in way." Aly tried to say as best she could. Maggie still had a red face, and Aly figured she wasn't helping any. Hmmm...

"Do you believe in destiny?" Aly asked out of nowhere.

Maggie sat there just making herself feel awkward. Aly wasnt leading her on, she was just hoping and thinking maybe she had a chance with her. She then heard Aly's quite random question.

"Do you believe in destiny?"
Maggie looked over at Aly and thought for a moment.
"Yeah, i do. I mean everything happens for a reason and such. Why do you ask?"

"Yeah, i do. I mean everything happens for a reason and such. Why do you ask?"

"Yeah I think the same way. Like take us for example: before today I had no idea that you existed, and now we're sitting here together talking about our lives. Maybe it was just me being forward about wanting to sit down, or maybe I was meant to meet you. Kind of a comforting thought, I think." Aly said with a smile.

"Like, I don't know, I think a lot of the stuff we do just leads to another point and then that point takes us somewhere else. So I like to think that me meeting you is another step in my journey..." Aly said trailing off and playing with her nails, as she does when she gets nervous, "maybe my last even."

"Like, I don't know, I think a lot of the stuff we do just leads to another point and then that point takes us somewhere else. So I like to think that me meeting you is another step in my journey..." "maybe my last even."

Maggie smiled hearing her speak. She agreed completely with Aly, everything that happened and everyone you met, was for a reason and part of your journey. When Aly muttered the last little bit she didnt hear it all to well. She tilted her head down to look into her eyes that were concentrating on her nails for no reason.
"come again...i didnt hear that last bit."
And Maggie became shy again looking over at Aly.

"Well I just said that maybe my meeting you is the last leg of my adventures. I mean you never know, right?" Aly said as she looked up. She shrugged her shoulders and smiled.

"Meh, I'm just being... me. Nothing to worry about." she added as she tossed her headset on, resting her eyes. She had dug herself quite the hole, there, and was thankful that the music could provide some distraction. I can't... no not right now. I mean I just got on the road and some one has already come into my life...
