It's been five years since I left my hometown of Topeka, Kansas. There was nothing there to keep me to stay, except one person-who I had not seen in those five years. Right after graduating High School I went into the Army just to get away from Topeka and its dead in life and right after graduating Basic and AIT they sent my happy little ass to Iraq and then to Afghanistan. Three tours, three years-countless brushes with death, but it was a life I chose.

At last I was finally going home after a year in Iraq. I was going back to Topeka to visit my family for a month's worth of leave time. I came home in my uniform, proud and strong. This was the life I chose and I wanted to show people that I was leading a better life than what was left in this God forsaken town.

Name:sera
Age:22
Height:5'5

Sera was a straight A student. Sera graduate with honors and went on to culinary school and got her baking degree. Two years later she opened up her bakery sweet seductions. She has . Lived in the same town all her life.

Sera hasn't seen her best friend for a couple years and has been really missing him. It was a busy day at the bakery and sera had to go to the bank to get change she left one of the employees in charge. Going through her bag and walking she didn't notice a tall wall of a man and walked right into him dropping everything.

I was looking down at my phone at the time when someone collided with me and recoiled back. Looking up it was a woman, rather short and it took me a moment for my eyes to adjust. It had been five years and was it..."Sera?" At first I wasn't sure if it was truly her. I mean, it was five years, no contact and there were hundreds of women in this town, and of all of the places in this town to meet it was here at this moment that we literally ran into each other. The math didn't seem possible.

"Holy cow! It is you, Sera!" I smiled in joy. I could feel my heart climbing up into my throat. All of this time she hadn't changed much at all. She still had the same figure, the same smile, the same eyes and the same hair. It was as if God had pressed the pause button. "It's me. Alex!"

Sera smiled as she bent down to pick up her things." Yup it has been too long Alex how has it been. I mean the last time I saw you we were in high school. How is life treating you." Sera got up w I th her things and moved out of the main part of the sidewalk so people could get to there destination.

"Well, to be honest, I just came back from Iraq. Three days ago." It was great to see her, I couldn't help but keep smiling as we stepped out of the way. I wasn't trying to brag. In truth I was still feeling the effects of the actions that my eyes were half on her and half on the environment around me. Had to remain sharp and keep situation awareness. "How have you been?" Looking her over quickly, I didn't see any wedding or engagement ring. That was a good sign. We had left each other so fast that we never had a chance to even say 'goodbye' and I didn't give her my new address. At least getting a letter from her while deployed would have cut down on the stress and loneliness.

Sera smiled as Alex had some interest in catching up." I am doing great I have my own bakery now and it's thriving." Sera could tell that Alex was still having affects of being in Iraq. " would you like to go grab some coffee and we can really talk. I have missed you so much and you left so soo. I never even got to say good bye." Sera looked at his hand saw no sign of a ring and smiled. She has wanted Alex since they were in high school but it never happened for some reason. She was always the geeky friend as where Alex was the popular jocl who datex. Ceerleaders. Sera was happy he was back and maybe they could see if anything bloomed romance between them.

"Sure. I would love to" I replied with a smile. "Let's go to the Danny's Coffee Shop. It's right around the corner". We knew Danny's place all too well. In High School it was a popular hang out because it was close to campus and sold great pastries. "We have a lot to catch up on." I let her lead the way. My mind maintained that I keep her in my field of vision and have her slightly in front and to the side of me to keep an eye on her and on my environment. As we went, "It's great that you have your own business. What else have you been doing since graduation?"
