So, I've submitted a story. Due to my technological capabilities, I had to submit it in the format where it'd have to be hand-checked. A poor choice, but I don't trust myself with this here new-fangled techie-nolow-gee. If I have counted correctly it's been 8 days since I've done that.

What I want to know is; has anyone else had this issue? Is this website really so busy that the person who does hand-check these things can only go through so many? Or am I just a bizarre anomaly?

By the way, my previous story took more than a week as well, but that was my fault. Mid-way through the pending status, I checked it and resubmitted it because I thought that it hadn't actually uploaded the first time. I think that my resubmission redirected it to the bottom of the submissions pile.

Or maybe the season. Oh, maybe they were checking the Winter submissions first, so they could be up in time before the deadline?

Most stories by established authors post in 2 - 3 days. During a contest that might go to 4-6 days, maybe. Any longer than that, there could be a hiccup.

The way to handle that is to PM Laurel and politely inquire when your story will post.

This. My first story took a 2-3 weeks at least - but it was over the holidays, it was 18 Lit pages, I was an unknown author, it was a little edgy, and I submitted it as a word doc. In the end it was approved without a fuss - but they got the formatting wrong when it came to italics (and now that I know Word better, I know exactly how they tried to automate converting italics to tags and exactly what they did wrong.)

Now I do my own formatting, my stuff rarely goes over 5 pages, and Laurel probably has a handle on what I write about - and they sail through in 3 full days.
