I have noticed that the number of folks saying, they can't talk to friends as often as they would like appears to be on the increase.
Please don't get me wrong, I do understand the costs involved with long-distance phone calls, can be horrendous.
However in this ever changing world of the WWW, a number of the IM (Instant Messenger) services, have started giving access to the phone networks, allowing you/me/us to call for only the cost of your local connection.
Most of the current IM services work only to or within the US and Canada, rather than world wide but there are certain programs available that can connect you world wide instead.
I talk to Becca even on her cell phone, and you can connect to pager services as well. Though for pagers you do have to have a "code" worked out before hand.
Both MSN and Yahoo IM's say they will have world wide service, within a short amount of time by maybe the end of 2001.
So come on in and tell me if you use your IM service this way, or if you would rather not be able to do this at all?
