It had been almost 100 years since that dreary night when the feeling of her own heart beat was taken away. Now she feels every beat of everyone's heart, but her own. In her mind, she was burdened by the memories of every heart that she had stopped. She felt like a savage as the pang of hunger swept through her body. She wanted blood. She needed blood. She was cursed. She could not bare to drink the delicate wine that passed with every person. She was more powerful than any vampire "living", but she was driven by something other than the desire for blood. She had a soul and with that soul, she turned against everything that she knew. She passed through the shadows of the night, protecting those who she once fed upon.

Death had been good to her. She had been changed when she was eighteen. She still had a great body through her skin was much paler. Her blonde hair hung down her back, stopping just above her shapely behind. Her piercing blue eyes seemed to mesmorize anyone who could catch her ever- watchful eye.

Alexis walked through the cemetary like any other night. She looked for new graves and kept an eye out for mysterious "people" in the cemetary.... besides herself of course. She tossed her stake from hand to hand, a little bored.

Suddenly she heard a sound on the other side of the bushes. She moved quickly to the bushes, stake ready. She stopped in her tracks when she spotted three vamps. Normally, she would charge in and dust them all, but these three vamps seemed to be being handle by a young man. The young man was powerful and graceful as he fought off the three vamps. After a short fight, he proceeded to stake each vampire. A Slayer. Alexis quickly slipped back into the shadows and watched him as he wiped some dust off of his jacket. He was beautiful from head to toe and she couldn't stop looking at him.

She stepped back in the shadows and a twig snapped under her foot. Her head snapped up and her eyes locked on his.

((I know it has that Buffy feel, but I liked the idea. I need my slayer and then I'll need some vampire friends of Alexis' from when she was evil. PM me with character ideas.))

Devin

After dispatching the fledgling blood suckers Devin spun his stakes in his palms and sheathed them in the leather strap sheaths running down his thighs. He turned his head...his short spikey brown hair cascading his bangs in front of his face...as he heard a branch or twig snap somewhere behind him...he slowly reached for the cross bow beneath his trench coat...as he locked eyes with an amazing creature...

Now Devin knew to not make the mistake of being stumped by un paralelled beauty, but in this case he couldnt help it...he saw the figure of an extreamly pale, gorgeous creature. Normally he hated things with such light skin...it reminded him of vamps...and vamps reminded him of the reason he grew up in orphanages his whole fucken miserable life...but the long flowing blonde tresses and the sultry deep pools she had for eyes intrigued him.

He shook his head...'what the fuck am i doing' he thought...'its a fucken blood doll bitch...i need to waste it'...he pulled out his automatic crossbow...turing around and walking forward...he tilted his head slightly forward to peek out from under his dark sunglasses. He stopped...something telling him to...she wasnt your average vamp he thought...or was it his foolishness again...was he smitten? or being controlled?

Alexis watched his every move as he moved towards her place in the shadows. She could since his hatred for vampires immediately, but she could tell he was a little intrigued by her.

She watched him in silence because she could tell that he was contemplating whether or not to try to dust her. She watched him as he brought out his crossbow. She could feel his heart beating and almost taste his blood, but she suddenly remembered the slayers she had killed in her evil days. She shook her head to wipe the thoughts from her mind.

He hesitated with the crossbow in his hand and she saw her chance to escape from her cornered position. In a split second, she was behind him. She was crossbow- length away from him and said with a lowered voice, "A slayer? Pretty rare. They don't really survive in a place like this." She took a step back as he turned to face her.

Devin

He didnt know why he hadnt yet put the fucken stake arrow through her bloody heart but he just couldnt seem to d-

Suddenly he blinked and she was gone...the first thing that went through his mind was the speed of the thing...he hadnt seen one that fast since...

"A slayer? Pretty rare. They don't really survive in a place like this." he spun around jumping back and holding the crossbow out towards her...with the stake pointed at her heart...it was more to just keep something between them...than for use as a weapon now...he knew it would not matter...she would be able to dodge the projectile easily...

He thought to himself...'ok...ok...calm down..think...shes fast...shes most likely a lower generation than youve ever dealt...but you can do this'... he swallowed and used the calm he had learned in the far east to slow the tempo of his heart...he pivoted his foot a bit...'maybe if i use non telegraphic movements...i wont be as fast as her but she wont know just how im coming at her'.

Suddenly something occured to him...

"Wait a minute....why are you just standing there...arent you gonna try and drain my fucken blood or something?"

She could tell he was shocked by her speed. Her speed was one of her most powerful attributes.

She locked eyes with him as she noticed him once again contemplating how to defeat her. She felt his heartbeat slow as he calmed himself. What is he thinking? I can feel his movements. The blood pumping to his muscles. She had heightened senses which sometimes made it difficult to resist her hunger for blood.

"Wait a minute....why are you just standing there...arent you gonna try and drain my fucken blood or something?"

She smiled slightly, revealing her fangs a little, and said, "I wasn't planning on it though I've never met anyone so eager to have their blood drained before." She pressed against the crossbow and said, "Why are you just standing there? I've never met a slayer that has hesitated to try and kill me before."

Devin

"Your cocky...thats for damn sure...," he pressed the tip of the stake harder inbetween her breasts... "but dont test me."

He put the weapon down...cocking his head to one side...still looking at her from behind his shades...

"What are you doing here...and for you info im not eager to get my blood sucked, as a matter of fact...just try it blondie!"

For some reason he was growing comfortable...Devin as a pretty good judge of character and he didnt feel threatened by her suddenly...perhaps it was her semi-playfull nature...and how she wasnt a ravenous blood whore like most vamps he'd run into over the years...

He sad down...his leather pants stretching tight, he pushed the tails of his trench coat aside to not dirty the back...and combed his hair a bit...

"Your not the same as them are you?" in his mind he felt shame for not killing her yet...she was definately something of a vamp...if not just stronger...why was he acting this way?

"Your cocky...thats for damn sure...but dont test me."

He pulled the weapon away from her chest. She could have killed him in that very instant, but she was cursed.

"What are you doing here...and for you info im not eager to get my blood sucked, as a matter of fact...just try it blondie!"

"Blondie? For your information, I could snap your neck before your next breath.... if I wanted to."

Alexis watched him as he sat down on the ground. His heartbeat was beating at a steady pace which told her that he was becoming comfortable around her.

"Your not the same as them are you?" She laughed and said, "Obviously not. If I was, you would be dead right now. As for why I'm here, same as you. To kill the vampires." She licked her lips as she looked down at him. She smiled as she noticed his confusion. "I have a soul."

((Well.... I'm out for the night. See ya!))

(O.O.C. - Ok goodnight :) love the thread...im gonna put in one last post before i turn in)

"HA! your so funny i forgot to laugh....you dont know who your dealing with missy, vamps like you are just notches on my belt...," he took out a lighter from said leather belt and flipped the zippo top off...he clicked the edge and the used the flame to light a small ciggarette he was now placing between his lips... "Soul yeah, thats a good one honey...tell me another."

Taking a drag he placed the crossbow across his lap and began checking the rectraction...making sure it would go off the next time he needed it...

"You look at me and see jsut another juicebag huh? well thats were your wrong... ive killed more of your kind than the sun...so lets just relax with all the 'holier than thou', shit...alright?" he blew smoke up into the air...a cone of grey mist dissappating into the cemetery night...

"So you kill vamps huh?...i assume your good since you are one...and your the fastest thing ive ever seen..."

Alexis

"HA! your so funny i forgot to laugh....you dont know who your dealing with missy, vamps like you are just notches on my belt..."

She sat on a tombstone near by watching him as he lit his cigarette. Cigarettes made the blood almost toxic- tasting and she was sure he knew that. Though in her evil days, she would not have hesitated to drain him before the flame reached the cigarette.

"Vamps like me? Trust me, honey. You've never met a vamp like me."

"Soul yeah, thats a good one honey...tell me another." She rolled her crystal blue eyes and pulled her golden locks away from her face, revealing her beautiful face. "Well explain why I haven't killed you, but instead listened to your rambling."

She watched him adjust the crossbow, but she wasn't nervous. He noticed her watching him.

"You look at me and see jsut another juicebag huh? well thats were your wrong... ive killed more of your kind than the sun...so lets just relax with all the 'holier than thou', shit...alright?"

With a toothy- grin, she said smugly, "You of all people should know there is nothing holy about me. I've never met a slayer that I haven't killed so take a deep breath and there's your proof that I have a soul." She hopped down off of the tombstone nonchalantly.

"So you kill vamps huh?...i assume your good since you are one...and your the fastest thing ive ever seen..."

Unknown to the slayer, a vamp was moving towards them in the shadow. The vamp slowly crept towards them. Alexis' enhanced hearing made it easy for her locate him. With the flick of her wrist, she dusted the vamp with a stake just as he reached for Devon. The vamps dust sprinkled over Devon.

She retrieved her stake and said, "Well it's been fun, but the sun's coming. My complexion doesn't do well with sunlight." She began to walk towards the bushes.

He didnt even notice the bloodsucker behind him...by the time he did it was collapsing into a pile of withering bones and dust...slayen by her stake.

He turnted to her as she began to walk away...intriqued. He'd follow her... but surely she would know it...better to just be open and ask...

"Who are you hunting?...i mean...im sure your hunting them all...but we all have a passion...a fire that burns...a reason we do what we do. Who gives you that reason? And...," he looked at her...taking off his sunglasses for a moment... "can you use any help finding him?"

Alexis replaced her stake into her belt as she walked away from him. She felt him behind her.

"Who are you hunting?...i mean...im sure your hunting them all...but we all have a passion...a fire that burns...a reason we do what we do. Who gives you that reason? And...can you use any help finding him?"

He had removed his sunglasses which revealed his whole face to her. She turned to look at him and for a second, she was a little mesmerized.

"You're right. I am hunting them all and I am also searching for one specific vampire. The most powerful vampire, the original vampire, and.... my sire. He is the reason that I am as powerful as I am, but also the reason I can't feel my own heartbeat." Her voice cracked a little as she said this. She cleared her throat and said, "I work alone. My sire rises soon and I must be prepared. I will not risk your life for my cause."

She glanced to the sky, which was began to erupt into the colors of sunrise. She looked at him and said, "I really must go." With that said, she disappeared through the bushes and into the graveyard.

She looked behind her to check if he followed before disappearing into a large tomb. She descended the stairs inside and reappeared in what seemed like an upscale apartment yet underground. She threw her jacket down on a chair and went to the fridge. She brought out a jar of blood and took a sip of it before putting it back in the fridge.

He watched her leave...it was elegant and subtle...but most of all fast. Soon he found himself alone pondering what had just happen and who he had just met.

Was it fate? He considered...or even something more.

Regardless of the reason, such a meeting was too good to pass up. Even if he couldnt help her...wich he doubted, after all she WAS powerfull...but still limited by the same weaknesses of all vampires. She might still need him. If he could prove valuable at least once, perhaps she would change her mind.

After all, someone like her, with all her power and passion might lead him to what it was he sought. Maybe the peace he desired wasnt as far off as he thought. Besdides...there was something in her eyes.

Devin checked his gear. Once confident it was all concealed and secured to his body, he began tracking her...wich he was sure would be difficult. He waited for a long while. Several hours before beginning. She would probably figure he wasnt following her by then. After most of the morning he caught enough of a trace to lead him, and started after the vampiress' lair....
