40 guy. DROID. Not sure wtf it means...it slays that on my phone

I could play slay a (small) bird with my phone, if my aim was good.

I think he is trying to say he is a 50ish looking forty year old droid and that he is going to kill his phone.

That's what I got anyway.

Probably a trojan horse. It's yet another spammer technique. Once the account goes through, you make a few posts in order to get past filters webmasters often put up to block signatures, links, etc. by new posters.

Then, you let the account languish for a while, making sure it's going to survive, and study how the website handles spammers.

Once you have the low-down, you activate your trojan horse(s) at the best possible time for maximum survival of your spam posts, or edit to add spam links to all the old posts while making one or two new ones without spam links. Users and admins won't see the links, because they're buried in the depths of the database.

Google will, because it's designed to dig deep. It will find the new posts, link through those to the old posts, and find the spam links.

Any time you see an account posting nonsense, repeating previous posts, etc., it's almost always a spammer -- even if they aren't currently spamming.

Most likely you're right.

But I still think it's more fun to bust on it.

so now that you got your geek on, come back and just mock it like the rest of us!:D

If poking fun at some Chinese or Russian drone making pennies per day who likely doesn't understand a word of what you're saying turns your crank, by all means, enjoy, LC.

I prefer to use these examples to inform the many people here who have blogs and websites of their own of the type of tricks they're likely to encounter, so they can have the knowledge to counter it in their own houses before it becomes a problem.

well were not all good Samaritans here, but looking at the other replies I'm not alone.

and I don't feel bad for foreigners making pennies a day because the poverty level in this country is coming close to that, but no one seems to care about that here in the States where we foolishly still believe we live in the greatest country on earth.

I am a hug fan of the honeypot project

Also Stopforumspam, BotScout, and Askimet

I utilize all four of those, in addition to all the automated functions such as Captcha that stop the harvester bots not controlled by humans, and some software specific spam databases for the licensed software at the core of the website.

I rarely have to do more than look at the logs of blocked spammers and giggle at the futile efforts to penetrate multiple levels of defense.

The few that get through, I recognize and block before they can do anything by taking advantage of knowledge such as my first post in the thread.

Anyone reported it to Manu ?

Technically, it's not spam... Yet.

Honestly, I have little doubt that it will be at some point in the future, but there's nothing other than the patterns spammers use to prove it, so I didn't report it.

I would imagine that the unrestricted free speech policy of the site that allows assholes to attack people with unsupported lies, openly spew bigotry, or claim to be affiliated with the site probably extends to gobbledygook as well.

Until it's actual spam, they're probably free to babble incoherently.
