Login trouble

My login suddenly won't work, and the password suggested by the password recovery mechanism isn't the one I know.

I think this is a system failure rather than an account compromise. It well might be that nobody can log in at the moment.

When I log in with my usual login/password, I get bounced back to the login message, but there's no notice that the password's invalid. When I try the password provided by password recovery, I get a "Your password's invalid" message.

I tried switching browsers in case it was a cookie issue and got the same problem.

Now I'm trying from the home page... looks like it's just spinning when I try to log in. Maybe the webapp is having trouble in general.

Hopefully it will start working again.

In my case there's no error message regardless of whether I use my password or the one provided by password recovery. I just doesn't work. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

My experience matches both of yours. No login.

Same here. No error message or anything.
Pretty annoying, really.

I just hope this means that new stuff is being installed. Five months with no word of the upcoming changes is too long....

Yep, another reason why one should always be sceptical when being told that something will be done within "the next few months".

Some would say that we are still within some definitions of 'a few'. That wouldn't be me though. 'A few' ends at 4, to be followed by 'several'.

Exactly, but everyone (well, almost everyone) knows that 4 months means 4 months.

Meh, it's still impossible to log in.

I can log in fine. Are you sure your account hasn't be deleted?

Only joking. I can't log in at all. All it takes it a small tweak and the site won't know where to look for your password. I'm afraid this doesn't really mean big changes are coming. That said, before I'd make any big changes, I would be sure there wasn't anyone on the site submitting fresh content. Who knows.

No Login - Same Problems

Hi Guys,

I have the same problems and I can't login to.

Hope they will fix the problem soon

Greetings

I'm relieved to see this thread, I thought you kicked me out!!

They have! But to confuse you they've kicked themselves and everyone else out as well! :D

BTW, I love your contributions to USS Constellation (I'm now boldly assuming that you're hg33 on chyoo)

Thanks :D Yeah, I originally registered with this nick in August but was too cowardly to post anything, so when I rediscovered it a month later I registered with the shorter name. Plus since I'm a ditz I sometimes forget how many 3's, haha.

Lol, I was going to start a thread about this last night but went to bed hoping it would be better in the morning!

I have an addition to one of my stories and I want to approve/deny it! I haven't added anything lately but I still want to 'care-take' my stories........

Hopefully this is a sign of good things, and not the next problem we get to enjoy every few weeks, like the website being down!

Y'know, I was just about to post saying, "At their usual speed, they might be ready to upgrade to Chyoo3. Anyone have any suggestions for backing up my stories from the site?"

You can still read your stories, just not add to them. So, you can back 'em up.

Anyone have a favorite automated mechanism for doing so?

I save each addition in word after I've written it, and keep them all in a 'chyoo' folder.

So if I did have to rebuild my stories, it would just be a matter of cut 'n paste until my mouse finger dropped off............
