Locking a thread

So my thread had over 600 pages and was locked sometime early this morning. I never got a warning or even a message from the mods that it was locked etc. But yes, there was a discussion about people's first time having sex or masturbating or silly/fun/embarrassing tales from when we were younger.
I get if that violated rules.
Couldnt the "better" approach (from the user's perspective at least) be that the mod go in and nuke those posts, provide a warning message on the thread, and perhaps one to me since I own the thread, and/or to the person who started the topic (which was me...ahem)...instead of locking the thread permanently (and without warning)?
Seemed a bit drastic, esp to a thread that is likely considered to be "popular" with over 600 pages of content and almost 600k views etc.

Anytime a thread ventures into the “first time” category, its days are numbered. People ALWAYS violate the TOS. Multiple forums have stickies warning about “first time” threads. You could reach out to the moderator to ask if it’s possible to have the thread unlocked, but also do know that many mods would have removed the whole thread. Venturing into underage content is dangerous for the site and not something we want to risk in any way.

Not sure which mod did lock it as there were no warnings to me/on the thread. But thanks...

What if the mod(s) never respond?

Sent two messages over the last week to no response, but only one was about my thread.

a mod responded privately and claimed to not know who locked my thread.

the best part is, they dont know who did, so i cant message the proper person, and since its locked, i also cant go and edit content in there that id like to remove.

this is a ridiculuous situation...completely unfair.

TBF, their site, their rules. There's not much point complaining as a mere user.

There's a lot of pressure on website providers from governments amid the argument over who is responsible for the content: owners or contributors?

Personally I think it's too big a job for owners; you only have to look at the stats for burnout and emotional breakdown among FB content mods who have to watch all kinds of sick shit before deciding to hit the ban hammer.

I think if a user uploads content, and the thread becomes locked, then its rather ridic to think the user cannot go an delete a compromising photo or whatever since its their image and body etc.

You could try reporting the post and explaining in the report that you would like the image removed since you can’t edit the post yourself. I see reports like that with some frequency. We used to close every thread when it hit 5000 posts, so lots of closed threads and folks would find that they needed this type of help.

thanks for that suggestion. honestly would be easier for me to edit the image/link myself but...thanks

not getting on anyone's case, but the Lit rules are pretty clear about any underage stuff—no matter how coyly referenced. As for complaining, perhaps consider making yourself aware of a site's rules before venturing into the 'first time/when younger' stuff. Stick to 18 and over, no problem. And as ToPleaseHim mentions, threads like these will almost always attract those wanting to discuss prohibited material here.

If the mod doesn't know who locked it, perhaps it was the site owner... who actually doesn't owe you an explanation if you cannot be bothered to familiarise yourself with a site's rules. We don't pay to use this site, yet people expect so much from it.

Not complaining per se as much as was seeing if there were options about my personal content not being able to be removed, nothing else. when I asked who locked my thread, the mod that responded didnt know. so I was directed to the mod of the forum it was in and asked them. that mod didnt know. ie, dead end.

as for the warning/rules, yer right, i read the too quickly. just as when i dl an app, buy a new computer or washer/dryer or whatever, i dont read every single line item in the TOC. i missed it. it happens. it wont again, dad.
but also, maybe read what i wrote before trying to "put me in my place" to be a "good citizen", as it was already obvious and stated above by the mod who actually enforces the rules.

This response really wasn’t necessary. And also not a good look. Being willfully ignorant of rules about underage content on an adult site is a choice.

Incidentally, I did give you one of the two only possible routes to remove images from a closed thread and you essentially said Kthx. So hopefully you’re finished complaining about that. (The other option is to ask the have the whole thread removed, btw.)
