Nope, but I'd be interested in meeting you. Going to OOB in Maine summer of 2007.

I know of one or two, but it might help them contact you if you stated why you wanted to know. :)

I'm going there the week of July 9th to the 14th. I'm looking to take some area photographs while I'm there. I probably won't be able to get much help from the people I'm going to meet with, because I'm not taking them any good news.

I only know of one spot there to photograph, and that is Water Place Park. I never been to that area before, and I'll be going solo.

I'm not looking for a sexual encounter, just some guidance on the sights. Providence seems to be a historical area.

Providence

Snake,

I live in Ct and get to Rhode Island a few times a year. Although I haven't been to Providence for a few years I do know that economically it has turned around quite a bit.

I am not sure what sort of pictures you are after but part of the turn around is down by the river. There are restaurants down there and the like.

Also if you want to do same nature pictures the trip from Providence down to Newport takes you through some noce old towns like Bristol. Also Newport is rocking this tome of year. The run from Providence to Newport is about an hour depending on traffic.

Thanks! I've been checking out Map quest. I have no idea what the traffic will be like, but at least the rental they reserved for me has unlimited mileage.

Vermont mountains, i'm told! New Hampshire forests and lakes.

The traffic has gotten a lot worse over the last few years, but I don't know what you're used to, so it might not seem bad to you.

As for pictures, it really depends what you're looking for: Historic? Natural? Urban?

Definitely check out Waterplace Park. Go to projo.com and see if there's a waterfire scheduled while you're there. The Eastside is a great place to take pictures. It's the historic section, near Brown University. Federal Hill is cool, too (the Italian section). Also there's tons of construction downtown, which makes for interesting pictures. The beaches are only about 45 minutes away; I would recommend a trip there for nature pics.
Does that help?

The flight from Atlanta to Charlotte was a bit bumpy and scary, but the flight from Charlotte to Providence was much better. I was able to watch the first part of Batman Begins before we landed.

The rental car wasn't paid for, so I took the $40 cab to the hotel. I'll have that taken care of when I get to their office. It was their idea to pay for everything, so my office let it slide. No one will be around until tomorrow anyways.

The hotel is in Pawtucket, RI just North of Providence. This place is much different than the ATL.

On the way in, I saw some great sights from the plane, but I was watching a movie and didn't have my camera handy.

It really sucks not having transport, I had to eat diner at the little rest. connected to the hotel. Way too expensive. It's not my plan to spend money here. Cigarettes cost $6. I laughed when she told me the price. I said, "...and you don't have sweet tea either."

The bed is hard and cold.

Just for the record, Pawtucket is the armpit of Rhode Island. ;)

If you're looking for history and such, try the east side of providence. There are alot of old historic homes, narrow streets, college students and yuppies. They are also currently filming a Disney movie over in that area. A live action Underdog, if you can believe it. I'm sure it will suck.

Thats not to be confused with East Providence, which is a whole separate city just over the river. (Next town south of Pawtucket.)

RI is really famous for it's beaches and waterfront. Just head south and you're bound to find them. If you wnat more history, head for Newport. Or you could also try Bristol or Barrington. Bith have little 'Main Street' areas that are nice.

Good Lord! Who dislikes you enough to make you stay in Pawtucket?!
