stories to delete...

I have written to info@literotica.com and webmaster@literotica.com asking them to DELETE MY STORIES. And they have not!!
How long does it take?
I've even submitted DELETE story submissions for all my stories.
Is this a known problem with Literotica?
This has really gotten my dander up.

Did you include the stories that posted yesterday and today in your delete submissions?

You obviously know how long it takes for the administrators to get around to approving and posting a story, what makes you think that deletion requests somehow rise through the mass of submissions/emails/PMs with flashing lights and blaring horns to attract immediate attention and instantaneous action. Even if they started as soon as you press the send key, it's going to take more than a few minutes to remove 31 stories.

Hey Weird Harold. I don't think you're so weird. At least I got a reply from you. More than I've gotten from the staff that I wrote to.

As for my last story uploaded, comprised of two chapters: I gave explicit directions not to publish the chapters apart. I wanted them published together so readers could read them consecutively. In the past they have said they could do that if requested. But they never have. I guess you're right. They're too busy to do things right or to accommodate the author's wishes. That is why I am out of here. Literotica has a lot of authors. They won't miss me and I can't stand the wait, the non-response, the posting of individual chapters rather than stories....

However I really do like a literary site called: storiesonline.net

My readers can find me there from now on.

I know when I submitted an edit for a poem, it took longer than when I submitted the poem, so I imagine deleting over 2 dozen submissions would take a while. As for that site, isn't it the one that several people here have reported for posting stories stolen from them?

To the best of my knowledge, Stories Online, is a good site. Several Lit writers post there frequently. I've posted a couple stories. They're geared more toward feedback and have a much more sophisticated category system than Lit, though nowhere near the readership and, of course, no Author's Hangout.

I thought it was. I need to check because of what Rumple said.

But as for removing stories from Lit?

Here is the text of a reply from Laurel when I PM'd her awhile back about removing stories because of the Coming Together anthologies:

Re: I need a story pulled from Lit?

Hi!

First, I want to let you know that you have every right to remove your stories from the site at any time for any reason.

Second, if you feel comfortable doing so, I'd appreciate knowing the reason(s) for your decision. We strive to improve Literotica ever day, and your comments can help us mend things that might need mending.

For security purposes and to make sure you (as the author) are the one making the removal request, you must follow this procedure: log into your account and create a story titled "REMOVE". In the body of the story, put the names of the submissions you wish removed along with (optionally) the reason for their removal. If you want all of your work removed, you can put that rather than listing every submission.

Story removals are usually done within 4-7 days.

Thanks for your support, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Piece of cake.

Hi CeriseNoire.

I'm not so sure it takes a long time to delete. If you wanted to delete something from your computer, how long would it take? The time, I suspect, comes from making sure there is no reference to anyone under age eighteen. And, if a story is submitted in MS Word document form, then they "manually" have to convert it. Again, a disappointment with Literotica: my posted stories had none of the bold or italicized words, nor scene breaks indicated by a "----------"

As an author, I'm so bored with Literotica's incompetent site.

Stories posted stolen from others on storiesonline.net? I haven't heard about that and I think the authors would have been alerted to that.

I've never had a problem with getting italics or scene breaks.

And it probably won't take long to delete the stories, once they get to them - there's around 70 (or more) stories published here every day. Heaven knows how many submitted or how many emails/IMs for the admins to go through.

How long ago did you ask to have them removed?

Dunno. The site itself is legit. It's made of individual authors submitting stories, just like here. Some Lit authors post their stuff at both places. It may be that some individual "author" have stolen stories and posted them there as theirs. But on the other hand, that has happened at Lit too.

Hi starrkers,

It's been a couple days without hearing anything to several emails to both addresses.

This would never happen on storiesonline.net and postings are usually done within an hour or so.

Indeed. No problems with bold or italics here.

You do have to use the proper format.

Either [ i ] [ /i ] or < i > < /i>

If you use the wrong one you won't get what you planned.

I know how long it takes to delete a story from my own computer, however, I have never run a website (let alone one this side), so I can't presume to know how that works; I was only saying it may not be as simple and quick as you'd like. As for bolds, italics, etc, I always paste my stories into the box and insert the tags as needed, so I have never had a problem with formatting not appearing.

As for your boredom, I am sure that if you follow SSS's advice, you'll soon be free of Lit.

You'll notice that I said "isn't that the one people have reported...?" meaning I did not remember if that was the one mentioned in the threads where authors were complaining about stolen stories.

I wasn't saying that it would e the site's fault, just that it was what came to mind when I saw the name.

HGL,

The best way to get in touch with Laurel is by PM, not e-mail. I'm told the Lit e-mail account is clogged with spam.

The last time I deleted any stories here at Lit, it took over a week for them to vanish. I suppose the time can vary as it does with posting stories. So if you requested the deletions yesterday, when your chapter one was posted w/o chapter two, which was posted today, they may stay up for several more days.

I like the public comment function here, and the community. You can get emails there, but I read where a number of people were frustrated with the voting stats - from what I read the guy was trying to improve things, but it was confusing.

Well, you guys have reasured me about the deletions being imminent. I'll give it a week.

As for my lost formatting, why do they say they accept Word docs when you lose the formatting if you post it that way?

In fact, I post with formatting-encoded text files at StoriesOnline but, on a lark, I posted quickly to Lit so they got the Word docs that they said they would accept, but would have to manually convert. It took a week, and then _none_ of my formatting is in Lit's publishing of my story, Family Therapy. Check it out. And if anyone has access to my posted story, compare it.

BTW, I wrote several emails and I sent internal email from the Contact page. Nothing from anyone at Lit.

This site is not keeping up, imho.

PM Manu and Laurel with your concerns. They recently did some sort of infrastructure upgrade and are still working the kinks out.

Tough. See ya. Call if you get work.

Sarahh answered your formatting question above: you have to use <i> </i>, etc. I've never had the first problem when I do it correctly.

I've had a story removal request in for a few days (due to it being published), and it's not gone yet. I don't see myself as the center of the universe, however, so it's not a problem.

If you want the story/poem deleted, you simply have to resubmit, using the same title, and add DELETE at the end. What you don't have to do is re-submit the story with the delete submission.

I deleted 3 stories and a few poems for publication off Lit, they were done within a few hours.

It helps if you put in the notes box, the reason why you want them deleted.

I'm sorry you feel 'hard done by', I've not had any problems with Lit for any reason over the 3 years I'vbe been here.

Good luck.

E-mails to Laurel or Manu rarely work.
On the other hand, pm's work every time.

Oh for fuck's sake, whoever you are, stop whining already!

There are around a hundred emails and submissions sent to them each day. Give them a little time, will ya?

And if you're oh-so-disappointed with the site, why did you post two new stories over the last couple days?

Gosh.
