Literotica Party Postponed - Good News / Bad News

Hi everyone,

I have some good news and not-as-good news about the upcoming Literotica party. The not-as-good news is that it has become necessary to postpone the party until next year. Because of the recent events in the United States, some people are (understandably) apprehensive about flying and/or visiting high population density areas. We are sad to have to put off the party for a while, but the safety & peace of mind of our fellow Literoticans is first and foremost in our minds.

The good news is that this means that the rest of you will have more time to consider attending the party once it is rescheduled. We don't have any dates in mind yet, but we expect that it will be sometime in the first half of 2002. Once things settle down a little bit, we'll begin to seriously look at planning again, and updates will be posted here.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in this project, and we sincerely apologize for the fact that it had to be postponed. To say that we have bad timing is perhaps the understatement of the year.

I especially want to thank Dillinger & Weird Harold for being the brains behind putting this whole thing together. Hopefully, they are suckers enough to offer their invaluable time and effort again next year.

If you are still planning to go to Vegas, regardless of the party postponement, feel free to email me or Dillinger and we would be happy to connect you with other Literoticans who may also be in Vegas on those dates.

That's really too bad it's been cancelled. But I guess in today's atmosphere, it doesn't seem like a good idea to party. It's really wonderful that the above mentioned people spent so much time organizing it. Thanks guys.

So that means maybe more emphasis on next year's "do". I will admit, I've been starting to quietly lobby some Lit members to consider Chicago in May. Yes, selfish reasons. LOL I don't want to be the only one there, and bumming around town by my lonesome! But we will see what happens between now and then.

Understandable, but it is a shame, because so many were pumped about it... but as you said, this may make it possible for more to go when things are better here in the states.

It's just good that everyone is so commited to being a family, and looking forward to making it so many can meet in RL.

I know I'll be saving money here and there now, so I can really try to come to the party when it is held.

It's may be just as well. The last thing a Lit get together would need is to have me getting drunk and running through the room yelling "Toga! Toga!" wearing nothing but some bed sheets.

Not that I was planning to do anything like that while there, mind you.

I probably wouldn't have been able to make it anyway in October so I wasn't even planning on going. I am planning on being Las Vegas the last part of Jan., first part of Feb. - for the Art of the Motorcycle exhibit and for some other conventions then, but at this point I can't be certain. Gotta find a job first.

It is a shame that the terorist bastards have won again. Oh, I understand the concerns that are leading to its postponement, and it is prolly prudent, I just wish that it was not the case. This must be bitterly disapointing to WH and Dill, and I hope that they will see themselves fit to put together a party in the spring. I will commit myself to being there, one way or another. I hope that the rest of you will join me, in this small way, in saying to the terorists, " I am not going change who I am, or what I do because of you."

I posted this to Sparky's thread as well... its worth saying to you too Samuari... and to others... because the terrorist have not won again... (in fact - I sort of take exception to the "again" - because that assumes that they at some point "WON" - they haven't and never will win shit...)

I'm talking for myself here - not for Laurel or Manu (they're perfectly capable of speaking for themselves).

Bottom line is that when we polled those who had signed up for Vegas, the majority said they would not be coming. Not everyone because of concern about flying but some because of money, school or other reasons. And - of the 30 plus people who said they were definitely going to be there - only about half of them actually bothered to respond to the emails or posts here on the board. From my point of view I could only assume that meant they wouldn't be coming to Vegas either.

Now - as far as I was concerned - considering Laurel and Manu were going to be spending a good deal of money on this thing it made no sense to rent one of the nicest suites in vegas, provide tons of food, entertainment and what not for a handful of people.

Whatever reasons people had for cancelling out - that's their own business.

That's the bottom line. "What if Lit threw a party and no one came?" The what is - is that Lit reschedules the party when people can come.

I think people want a REAL get together - want to meet as many people as possible. We'll make it happen, its just going to take a couple of extra months - and it will be bigger and better then we even thought this one would be.

Laurel, Manu and everyone else who was trying to put this thing together would have happily had it take place as scheduled. And it will take place - when we can really make it a LITEROTICA party. And I think we all owe Laurel and Manu some appreciation and support - they have gone out of their way both personally and financially to make this happen and they are going to do so again when we DO make it happen.

The postponment is too bad....yet I do understand the situation that made the decision.

I, for one, will be going to Vegas anyway....already have my tickets and my flights have not been altered.

For those that are going anyway, let's at least try to meet for a lunch or dinner anyway......if you would like!!!
