"Literotica Oscars"

We need a formal list of all awards, then a night or two of nominations, a judges panel to keep it all fair, a night or two of voting, and then an award ceremony.

;)

All right, kiddos...let's get cracking!

First, a list of awards...ideas?

Then, judges...

What do you mean it's not that kind of judge???

What is the time frame for the judging? From the inception of Lit, the past year (which translates to, what?, 12 Lit years?), the past three months? Are we keeping this only to General Board threads, or anywhere on Lit? Do we need to subdivide the categories? And how does one become a judge (hint, hint)?

OK, here are my category ideas:

  • Best Performance by a Newbie
  • Best Performance by an Oldie
  • Best Single Avatar
  • Best Avatar Series
  • Best Signature Line
  • Most Humourous Post
  • Most Humourous Poster
  • Most Humourous Thread
  • Most Humourous Exchange (minimum of two posters, can appear in any type of thread)
  • Most Serious Post
  • Most Serious Poster
  • Most Serious Thread
  • Most Helpful Post
  • Most Helpful Poster
  • Most Helpful Thread
  • Most Erotic/Sensual Post
  • Most Erotic/Sensual Poster
  • Most Erotic/Sensual Thread
  • Best Erotic/Sensual Performance (minimum of two posters, can appear in any type of thread)
  • I second Angel's title of Best Political Duet
  • Tearjerker Post Award
  • Most Eloquent Poster
  • Best Grammarian
  • The Sage Award
  • Most Lovable Curmudgeon

I'd say we keep away from any negative awards. This should be a Happy Thread, damnit. :) And the acceptance speeches for the Most Inane Poster, etc. would be most dull anyway.

As for prizes, are we talking real or virtual? Purple dildos sprang to mind...

I kind of like the more snide awards too. Some of us would love getting nominated for them :D

LOL That would be good. Would it be limited to the "I'm leaving because Lit sucks/because of so and so bugging me" type leaving posts? I'm thinking the posts where people are leaving because of computer problems wouldn't count.

Oh, of course. There would have to be some kind of rant/tantrum contained in the post to qualify and length does count. Of course we could add an award for longest "I'm Leaving Forever" post in a separate category instead.

This was so good...I thought it needed a thread of its own!

I voluntarily gave up my crown...but who deserves it??

If I’m not nominated in SOME category there – I demand a recount.

I apologize if i've repeated any that have been already been suggested. I actually did read over all the previous posts to this thread but my mind is on slo-mo today.

1. Most missed former Literotician
2. Best advice giver
3. Most warm-hearted
4. Wisest
5. Kindest
6. Most apt to rush into where angels fear to tread
7. Most open about rl self
8. Most closed about rl self
9. Kinkiest
10. Most open-minded
11. Destined to be a famous Writer of Erotica
12. Most ascerbic wit
13. Kindest wit
14. Most uncompromising morals
15. Good shoulder to cry on
16. One whom most of us are secretly afraid of tangling with in a thread

As far as the judging, how about (to begin the discussion):
- Any and all registered Literoticians can vote.
- Ballots are sent via email to a special email acct
- one or two (no more) *totally* trustworthy people take the raw ballots, strip the posters name from them (tossing out ALL "unregistered" ballots or ballots from people with less than - say - 100 posts), and send them on to several tabulators.
- the tabulators keep a running count of who is nominated for each category
- at the end of a predefined period, the tabulators confer, and post a ballot that has the top three nicks for each category.
- more voting, same procedure
- final posting of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in eacg category after a predefined period.

Too cumbersome?
