Inspired by the Red Tent thread.

I love passing books on. I am of the belief that books should be read, dog-eared and spines broken in, rather than sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

My idea is that we use this thread to list books we are willing to pass on, and books we wish to receive.

I have We Were the Mulvaney's by Joyce Carol Oates for anybody who wants it. I am currently reading The Shipping News and will be willing to pass it on when I am done with it.

I have many more books at home, but I'm not there right now so I will post them later.

Two books I would love to read again are: Weaveworld by Clive Barker and Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins.

I think the only rules should be that you only send books that you are willing to permanently part with (so that they may continue to be passed along) and that we ship 4th class book rate to keep shipping costs down.

What do you think?

Excellent idea. I gotta think about which books.....as usual, I posted prematurely.

Good idea, Ruby

I need someone to hold me accountable to read them though. When in hell do you have time to read?

I think it's a great idea Rubes!!

I may have weaveworld... I'll check. I know I have most of Barker's books.

I'll post later with a list of books I'm willing to part with.

Among other things, I've got a copy of 'Tropic of Cancer' lying around here somewhere, that an x left behind. It'd be cleansing for me to get it out to others to read. Give it some purpose, instead of a reminder of him.

Sounds kool, i wish i had books to offer but i guarentee no one would want to read from my collection

I've got a ton of books lying around too, some of which i'd be willing to part with in this venture.

Most of mine are in boxes, though, awaiting the permanent move into my new house. I won't be able to get to them for a couple months. After that, though, i'd be thrilled to participate in this book exchange.

foxy? I don't care if you're a bazillion miles from me. I'll still swap books with you.

I'd offer to swap too, but since we've moved, all I really have left are a few trashy romance novels....but I'd be more than willing to pass them along to anyone

I like the idea.
I like my books.
The pack-rat in me says don't put any up for adoption, besides their feelings might be hurt if they're not wanted.

My generous nature says, sure if somebody asks, I'd likely send them one of mine I wasn't using, assuming it's not inscribed by the author or a reference book , gift, etc.

I won't ask for any till I've read what I've got

I have "Lady Chatterly's Lover" (classic erotic novel) and a book called "One Hand in the Bush - The Art of Fisting" which is a nifty and very informative introductory book to the art of fisting. I would love to pass them on to Lit people since errrmmm I dont know how my parents would react if they would find them in one of my moving boxes in June :D

Please pm me if you are interested. I'll send them to any dedicated person. ;)

is it illustrated?

I have some travel books on the Greek Islands. But most everything else is a keeper. For now.

both have drawings - the one in "One Hand In The Bush" has the drawings purely to help you get to grips with the anatomy and stuff. No photos - sorry, it aint a porn mag. :D

I would love to read One Hand in the Bush. That sounds very interesting and, um, informative. :)

Halo :rose:

sniffles

Would love to join in, but all my books are treasured friends and I could no more part with them than my cat... sorry

*bump*
(because I think it is a good idea)

Halo :rose:

P.S.: The Fisting book is gone. Sorry.

I've got just the book!

"EROTIC 3D" 30 state of the art secret images for adults.

It's a magic eye sort of thing...Looks like paisleys...or maybe a torso...

It's of no use to me.. If something is out of focus I automatically ignore my left eye...works great for shooting, but for this it sucks!

first PM claims it.

Paragon, since this is a book thread, I thought I'd comment on your interesting sig line- is that from the Left Hand of Darkness (which, Btw, I have if anyone wants it)?

I also have a great sci-fi series (3 books) by Octavia Butler, Hearts in Atlantis and Dreamcatcher by Stephen King, Plum Island by Nelson DeMille, and maybe some others. If anyone is interested, let me know.

LDWAH, I'd love to read Lady Chatterly's Lover.
