I'd say Vegas because that is where Blackbitch and Harold are, and Laurel and Manu are close too, along with many others.....
But I pick Chicago, because it is my favorite city... So much to do there. But, in Vegas, our antics would be looked at with more approval than in Chi town. So??? Either way, if I had the time to plan, save money, and get cheap airfare then I'd attend. I'd love to meet you all.

I second that
Most important factors are cheap airfare, and time to plan & save money. With those requirements met, my hubby and I are there. Time to plan would also be time to get more people going. I saw another thread that mentioned only 9 attended a Lit gathering out of 40 or so invited? That's sad. Maybe we should appoint a "bumper" to this thread, or do some advertising. I would like a big crowd. Unless some of you plan on this being small and exclusive, meaning I wouldn't be invited, anyway, because I'm new here. Either way, I'm easy, but generally prefer Vegas because I also feel our mentality would be more welcome there.

Taffy is right..... Vegas is a more open minded city. They have porn conventions there all of the time, and we wouldn't be a convention, but if we wanted to be rowdy and loud, we'd be loved there!

My vote is with Vegas - though I could do either.
Weird Harold mentioned that in Vegas we would also have a good chance of getting a hotel to "sponser" us... that could mean perhaps a group discount on rooms (or suites, whatever)... and other.. uhm... facilities... I'm hoping Weird Harold might do a little investigating and see what the possibilities are...

Of course you would be welcome Taffy! *grins* And though I could drive to Chicago, it would still be cheaper to go to Vegas...and so much more fun!! There are things to do in Chicago, as Starfish pointed out, but we're going to meet one another and be casual, yes? I don't think I'm going to be checking out the cultural attractions if I'm coming to meet my Lit friends. Anyway, I voted for Vegas because I've been there twice and it is such a laid back and fun town...even with the heat, I'd love to return.

I don't really like to fly (pretty scared), and my husband is dead scared of it.
If it were for like 3 or 4 days, we'd drive out for it. It wouldn't be worth it if it were just for one day or so. Well, we do love it out west, and if it were a short thing, we could always drive to a National park or something.

An alternative suggestion was to do it right after COMDEX ended when rates are REALLY cheap in Vegas (and those of us, like myself, who attend Comdex can just stick around)... the problem that was pointed out is that's the week before Thanksgiving and would be hard for some people to take off work. Those dates would have been November 15 - 18th (also a Thursday to Sunday)

That would give everybody time to get there Fri. evening and Sat. morning before the event Sat. night. We could hang around for fond farewells Sun afternoon, because we'll probably all need to sleep late after Sat. night.

I said I had to DRIVE out and if it was for one day and one night, then it would suck to drive all that way to only get to lick you for a day! I want like three days! 3 days and nights, that is.
Oh and I wouldn't even drive 800 miles to see my best friend for 2 days. Talk about a tease.
You realize I live in Ohio, right? A lot further from Vegas than Georgieton!
