Literotica corrupting the formatting of files.. how to prevent?

I submit stories in .rtf format, so I can use occasional italics. Occasionally, not every time but often enough to be aggravating, the text gets damaged in the conversion to html. The damage usually takes the form of 1) the italics not appearing and 2) spaces between the italicized words and others being deleted. So:
That is *so* freaking wrong!
becomes
That issofreaking wrong!

This really breaks up mood and flow, which is especially annoying because the point of italics is to direct mood and flow.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there some workaround?

You should, if you submit an RTF file, write a note in the notes box that there is italics in the text. This should alert the reviewer about the formatting.

I find it far easier to insert HTML tags for italics as I go along in a story, like this:

<i>text to be in italics</i>

Then I copy and paste the entire story into the submissions box, which allows me to preview the story. If I find an error there, I know it's mine and I can fix it. When it's ready, hit submit.

Hope that helps.

I follow PennLady's simple cut-and-paste method and have never had a problem with it. I think this is a case of jazzing up submissions unnecessarily.

I noticed during one of my posts that in a paragraph where I had two italicized phrases the preview showed a hard return right before the second italic. I simply put a note about it into the area for comments and I was away. They fixed it up before it hit the html.

Always make sure it formats properly in the preview and if it doesn't and you can't figure out why, give them a phrase that they can search to get to the location in the text and ask them to check it out for you.

My understanding is that they don't like many html tags. But, in addition to the italic tag PennLady mentioned, I'm pretty sure they are OK with

<b>for bolded text</b>

<u>for underlined text</u>

and <center>for centered text</center>

And <blockquote> for text with wider margins on both sides. I find it useful for setting off flashbacks from the main narrative and a few other things here and there.
