Literotica Book Club: An Idea

Sure, why not?

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd be into it.

Goodness, I have no thoughts on any books. I am not currently reading anything nor have I been to the bookstore in forever. I'll do some searching to see what I can find that might be interesting for male and female readers alike.

Yours does sound like a great book tho, Lavender. Let's put it on a list of possibles.

Do we have the option of "opting out" if we aren't interested in a certain book?

Otherwise...sure.

I think the whole point is to read something that you wouldn't normally read. Even if you hate it, its still an opinion and could be discussed.

Of course, if you don't want to read it, I won't force ya! ;)

Is lavykins trying to get fishy to play? You are succeeding.

Since so many are passing around the Red Tent, we should do that disscussion several months from now.

Lav, have you read it? Got on the bandwagon? ;)
I am reading this book and thinking... Men should read this. It is really great and it is not a 'girly' book at all. It is quite appealing to anyone who cares about the roots of our self nature, our abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and the value of our ties to other humans.
Oh, and I will join in on The Danish Girl. It sounds great.

lavender just a warning this was tried once

it failed
Fly- I wouldn't say it failed. I would say that the idea was brought up once before, and people discussed it, but nothing ever came out of it.

I think it's a great idea, Lavy. I would be interested in participating in it. I think one book a month is a good time frame, as many people here have other commitments (even though a few posters think some of us don't do anything other than post at Lit- lol).

I would be willing to go along with the book you suggested, as long as it's easily available. Also, we need to know when to have the book read by...

Uh-oh

I just remembered how fucking particular I can be with my reading!

If yall agree on a book and I like the sound of it, I'll give it a shot. I like fiction and history, though. And I am very interested in Russian and the former Soviet Union. I like classics too.

I'd hop in, but the book must be in a jerk-water library.

I would also suggest you put up the genre as well so people can decide if they want to discuss that book or not. Some people just don't like certain genres.

I'm interested in joining in and your choice Lavender sounds good.
I would agree with the once a month time frame as it gives everyone time to find the book and read it.

yah I know fail was the wrong word

I'd be interested this time around again.
though I most likely will not finish the books witht he rest of you, it takes me roughly 1-2 months to read a novel.

Sounds great to me! I don't currently have any suggestions, but perhaps if those that are interested listed their favorite genre/author/etc we could have a better grasp of what the first few books should be? Or at least along what lines they should fall?

I think the book you suggested sounds awesome lav, and will be on the look out for it.

I will read literally anything folks. I'm usually in process of reading at least 6 books, from fantasy to romance to horror/thriller to true crime to history or spirituality... so bring em on, i always need a good excuse to visit b&n or the used book store.

i love the idea of doing book club ... its just i often have a que of books to read ... 3 in the que right now :)

but once i finish this one i will try one from the "book club"

maybe it would be a good idea though to setup a poll so people could vote which books to read ? so then would know what the most interest would be in

lav,

lemme think on it. I don't feel to up about danish girl, but i don't want to stop the club. forgive me if i sound like a party pooper.

maybe i'll stop by the bookstore tonight and get some ideas?

please proceed. i like stuff like this, but I am an undisciplined little fart, ya know.... :)
