I briefly mentioned this in the Series(BETA) thread. That literotica was implementing a "Support me" link integration. It's interesting that the option seems to have vanished. I wonder if it was made public by mistake and is still in the works for later in the year. For those of you who sell their stories commercially. Are you excited about this? You think it will help with sales numbers?

Personally, I'm not writing anything that I expect to make any money from, but for those that are, I think this would be quite welcome.

My initial reaction would be welcome. But then I realized I keep my pen names secret... With LW stories, I wouldn't want to give them a direct road into my retail sales.

I think its a good idea and nice to see the site giving authors ways to promote themselves

My concern would be with amazon. Amazon still allows people who did not purchase your book, but did purchase something, to run up and down and leave 1 star ratings on people's books that they never need to read.

Going by the level of pettiness here I would never link anything on amazon to here, and recommend others be careful about it if they also-like Gordo said-write in polarizing categories here or speak their mind on the forums.

Smashwords you have to buy every book you review so there's less concern of someone just trolling up and down your library.

Smashwords will also remove bad reviews. I had someone give a brand new story a 1* and a shitty review. I emailed him because what he was complaining about was on Twitter. His beef, he literally didn't like me advertising my book. I copied the conversation and shared it with Smash. Score and review gone! I don't know what Amazon would do, but I suspect there'd be little cooperation. Many buying decisions are based on scores and reviews, so it would be crazy to allow the loonie toons here access.

I had someone drop a one star review on a book on SW a few months back, usually my reviews there are pretty good, but okay. I received another bomb the following month, and recognized the name. I'm sure you know you can click on them and see what they reviewed and the person only had four reviews in 6 years all one bombs, two for me two for another author and the review was "Literally trash, one star garbage" so I e-mailed them

Their first response was that they messaged the reviewer telling them they needed to be more detailed in a review other than a short rude sentence, and that they would be monitoring them. I wanted them removed, but at least they responded. I hadn't heard from that customer since, but did notice I am no longer on their fav author list, nor is the other author...and we were the only two they'd ever faved. Smells like a litster to me LOL.

SW did end up removing one of the reviews, left the other and for what reason I don't know, but again, at least it was something. Amazon will never remove a review if you're an indy author....unless they see a slew of 5's...then that's when they get suspicious...of course.

Smashwords was purchased by Draft2Digital a few months ago. It's difficult to know how this might affect their integration with this site, but Smashwords has seemed less responsive lately.

Yeah, Coker really sold out, because every advantage is for the D2D authors, there's nothing new for SW authors except a lot more competition, and despite their claims, D2D lives in mortal fear of amazon and I expect when the full integration happens they're going to stop accepting taboo, NC and other things SW has always done well with, even though they have the boxes to check on those to ensure it doesn't go anywhere its not supposed to.

I'll miss the sales e-mails, the dashboard and other features as well. D2D has a bland sales report that does update pretty regular, but no where near as much fun. Honestly, I always said if anything happened to SW it might be the end of me selling smut, and here we are. If D2D tries any content changes I'll walk. The extra money is nice, but we do fine without it, I won't deal with at that point would be bold face lies about what they were going to do.

What I've wanted for quite a while is a way of tipping Literotica, as I have enjoyed reading the stories on this website for a long time. Also, some simple way of tipping authors is definitely a good idea. I write for the fun of it, and to be completely honest, as a way to give something back to all of you kinky fuckers whose stories and content I enjoyed reading. Yet, there are writers who do this for a living, and supporting them would probably mean getting more quality content on Literotica. I definitely support the idea, although I would dislike the implementation of 'pay per view' stories. The soul of Literotica was always free content, so keeping the tips optional is definitely the way to go

This feature is back in BETA if you want to test it. The updated FAQ is here.
Literotica Support This Author FAQ

The current version of the "Support Author" icon on the Story Page has a minor animation that was only intended for testing. We plan to remove the animation, but the Author Card links are now active.

If you find any bugs or issues, or if you have suggestions to improve the feature, please let us know. :D

Best to create a new pen name for stories you deem worthy, or those you deem to pron to being trolled. It can work.

Amazon, you got sell there, but you either hate um, or love um. I hate um! Still, I get a pair of shoes, a nice dress, or a nighty from my sales on the site ever so often.

I mentioned that before, a tip jar and we can put paypal or other method of payment link on our bio page
Tipping would be nice, don't you think? Not that I'd earn any, but still if I did, I'd appreciate it.

I have a book that I co-authored on Smashwords, the co-author left, but assigned the rights to me before she did. Now they yanked the story from the premium catalog, and they want me to remove her name or have her rejoin to have it restored to all the stites.

I haven't changed my mind on these issues and Smashwords has fallen off a cliff for sales since the takeover. I already have three commercial pen names to promote and really don't need more.

I am sooooo excited about this feature!!

There are a lot of other sites that I use to post my work that discourage financial support or don’t have the interface to support this type of thing and it means a lot that Literotica wants to implement something like this for us.

I saw other people mention a tip jar and I like that idea too, however, there are limited options to make something like that work. PayPal is terrible for anything erotic/sexual and can shut down your account for anything they deem breaks TOS. (Mastercard and visa are also part of that awful fumble) It’s also super easy to mistakenly doxx yourself or your readers/listeners.

Another site I can think of that maybe could be suggestions for the future:
- throne gifts (anonymous on both ends, cash donation goals, plus allows you to add Amazon books from other lit authors and charity gift cards for support)

That being said, I love the options chosen and I feel like it fits most of our needs.

I also tried the beta link yesterday and I’m not sure where it will show up when stories are posted? And will it work for audios too?

- fansly
- onlyfans
- manyvids

If someone wanted to send you money through paypal they would be doing it from their account to yours, lit is not going to be a middle broker and handle money, so they wouldn't see it was coming from an erotica site.

All PayPal transactions are done directly. It’s just a warning. I have a lot of peers who have sold both written and spoken erotica peer to peer directly via PayPal without using a third party and have lost access to their account as well as their funds. If PayPal gets a whiff that what you’re exchanging funds for could be sexual in nature it’s their discernment only whether or not they shut down your account and they are unlikely to accept appeals. If authors want to use PayPal with each other understanding the risks, I think it’s fair to do so. However, Literotica as an erotic platform hosting a PayPal as a support button linked directly to the author’s erotic content page may very likely cause some issues.

I could totally be wrong though and don’t want to derail this thread, just want to provide additional information.

Trust me, I know Paypal is a PIA. I just think in this instance the bigger issue would be people seeing each other's real names.

I may be out of luck on this update. I'm not making my amazon works public because I don't need one bomb reviews from trolls here. SW might be an issue as they integrate to D2D and I don't have a Patreon. I know they're not hard to set up, but they are also a PIA with erotica and I'm surprised people here are getting away with it.

But also you need to keep up a Patreon with updates, giving things away...last thing I need is another thing to do and I'm sure I'm not the only one in that boat.

It's nice to see, but publishing for pay makes it feel like work, and I always balk early in the thought process because of that. My muse is too unreliable to start a Patreon, despite being asked several times. I know better than to think I could consistently put out new content to a level that would be fair to anyone who was subscribing.

As to Paypal... Yeah, I wouldn't trust them either. They have a horrible reputation for confiscating funds when you break terms of service, and anything sexual is on that list. I wouldn't use any kind of tip jar that was set up based around it. I honestly wouldn't trust any of them, because Visa and Mastercard could come down on any of them at any time and they'd bend over so fast it would warp the spacetime continuum.

If I'm not mistaken doesn't Patreon go through PP or do they have their own service to deposit money to you?

So, I put in my Smashword page and my US Amazon page. But where they show is a mystery to me. Or if you can actually use two, as I can't find the links on my personal profile. Did I fuck up or what?

So, it may still fail to show up, as I have two. But Silly Millie didn't click to participate in early beta testing. Now I'll wait and see.
