The Lit greeting for today:
Does anyone not celebrate memorial Day? Some, or even most, might not consider it much more than a long weekend(the true Holiday being on Thursday) but how can anyone in this country actively chose to not celebrate the basic right to live relatively free, or at least determine our own fate.
War is ugly and represents the worst sides of human nature but those who fought, regardless of their flaws, deserve a nod. Its not Yom Kippur or Christmas, the disclaimer leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
"...for those who celebrate it."
If you are a US citizen or reside in its borders, you should fuckign celebrate it. And firing up the BBQ or making your first visit to the summer home or sleeping in on Monday does NOT count.
