Out of curiosity, to winners/placers in the Lit. Survivor and other contests--and/or Laurel--how are the payments made to winners/placers in Lit. contests? Personal check, cashier's check, PayPal e-mail account infusion, gift cards, dollar bills stuffed in an envelope placed in the hollow of an oak tree in the cemetery at night? Or options among these?

I took mine as an Amazon gift card - I would have lost so much in fees to cash any cheque. (I know loads of people say it's not about the money, but I was brassic at the time, and it meant I could buy a couple of Christmas presents for my family.)

I received an Amazon gift card.

In the U.S. you can get a check sent through a payment processing center. Or, at least you could the last time I won something. That's how I took all of mine.

They're in plain envelopes that look like any other piece of mail. I didn't even actually find my first one in time to cash it :p ( 90 days ) It was buried in a bunch of junk mail, and I missed it.

A true name check (recipient's true name) or some sort of cashier's check?

I know why you're asking this. If the payment is through PayPal, for example, the payee doesn't need to really reveal themselves to the payer - isn't that correct? The sex of the account holder is not a required fact that needs to be known by the payer.

They're actual "Pay to the order of:" checks.

If you don't want to give out a name that can cash them, you have to go the Amazon gift certificate route.

Yes, this is a thread about trolling Freddie/SJP about what gender they really are.

Correct. I receive my royalties for erotica through PayPal, and until recently, my publisher knew the real me (in contrast to you) only in terms of the e-mail account I had tied with a back account at PayPal--which meant that neither my publisher nor PayPal had my true identity; only a bank account I had under a different name. But I'm thinking that no contest winners/placers here are being paid via PayPal.

No. It's a thread to back up a Freddie claim that he said I could just ask about. So, I'm asking in general rather than specifically. Your post is more like trolling.

I've not asked the specific gender question because I have absolutely no doubts on the gender issue. I cleared this up years ago with the man's former publisher. And again, this is not an issue of personal attack, it's an issue of point of fact.

Thanks. That answers that. You can get a true-name personal check.

But what does it matter? Its fairly obvious by posting style its a guy so I doubt anyone is being fooled.

I agree the posting style is all male. But quite apparently some are being fooled and Freddie is playing that field.

And, again, I require no proof. I settled this with his former publisher years ago when I reported that he was continuing to advertise books that had been withdrawn and the cover images reused.

In terms of this thread, the question had some general intent. I've never won/placed in a Lit. contest and always assumed that I'd have to turn down any winnings as nothing going in money awards here overrides the need not to give a true name. So, I am interested in what the options are.

Anyway here is the answer to your question

For the record who is fooled? The reason I ask is just because someone does not come out and say "Come on Susan we know you're a guy" doesn't mean they believe her.

Go hang out in the fetish boards and see how many 'women' you can out as men, its pretty funny, but I never bother posting it, its just turns into denial and...

the guys fooled get really mad and defend them because the alternative is they have been sexing up a...guy:D

Why do we need to continue discussing this if you don't think anyone is fooled?

Just in the last week, a poster started into a sharing discussion where Freddie was claiming to have been abused as a woman and another poster was hitting on him as a woman. The point is that Freddie makes a point of being insidious about it. The man knows no bounds in anything he posts.

This is why I'm pleased with the new rules in terms of his posts (and yours, among others). I can only win.

So, let's just drop it with you assuming everyone knows and me ready to give a little "recheck that for your own good," which I can do by PM.

hmm, I missed the "I was abused" post. I reply if the thread is interesting, but don't read all their posts.

My wife's career is working with women who really have been abused, to claim that as a part of a lie is pretty low.

The original question has been answered, so I'm going to lock this before it goes deeper into the territory that will require me to remove posts.
