My electric is out- bad storms in the area. That happens enough that I have an oil lamp handy for just such events. But I'm supposed to be packing to leave tomorrow morning bright and early for vacation! Difficult to do in the dark, or by oil light. Then I realized my phone line is fine, and my laptop has a battery! So, here I am. A modern day Abe Lincoln. Instead of reading by firelight, I'm on a laptop by oil light. Something about that just struck me as being odd...

Anyway, I'm going to go work on packing for awhile until I get too frustrated not being able to see well. See you later!

Odd?

I've spent many a night typing online by candle light. (With the exception of the monitor glow) the candles are the only light in my entire apt.

:)

It's very soothing. Kinda romantic too.

Well, yes. I love candle wax on my naked body, but that was not what I was talking about this time. I was merely talking about using candles to provide my light throughout the whole apt.

My mistake.... I thought they went together

Hmmm ... guess I'm used to full electric lights. And I dont' type as well in the dark. Letters are fine, but numbers, backspace, delete key, etc . I've discovered I need to SEE. LOL

Packed about as much as I can by lamp light, will just have to get up to use daylight tomorrow to do the rest.

Just consider it training in case you ever come to California. :D

Where I live I have to haul in water, haul out sewer, and the phone lines? T1 at best! If a bull rubs too hard on a pole, I could be out of power for weeks! We have been running on generators way before Y2K! I have a 200 gallon tank of gasoline among things. We have undergroung storage, a bomb shelter, ammo and provisions to last a year,

or a revolution!

I was in California for 6 days in May and had no problem with electricity there! Kind of ironic, now that I think about it. And I just looked outside, I think the whole town is dark. Weird to see it pitch black, no light from the city at all.

I'm heading to a family vacation with all the relatives- we go to a resort in the boonies away from tv, phones, etc. and fish, play cards, read, etc. This is good practice for me for that, we usually lose electricity up there at least once, too. LOL

have a great vacation

Cheyenne, head to sunny climates, keep dry and get out of the rain for a while.

enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

Batter, I sure hope that's the way it works out. So far, not exactly a smooth start, huh?

Not much time left, battery is running down. I think I found a new way to get Lit addicts off the board. Use battery power only, no electricity allowed! When the battery is done, so are you.

edit: 20% battery left, will be out of here soon. Bye, everyone!

You can't get rid of me that easily I guess. Electric came back on in the middle of the night so I'm back in business- packing by oil lamp went well, I think I'm actually ahead of schedule! LOL

See you guys in a couple weeks (unless I find the tiny town has a pc in the library, but I'm not counting on it.)

Was reading something yesterday about tips from a Brazilian mag about how to cope with power cuts.

Stock up on fluorescent condoms. Apparently they glow for half an hour.

Use luminescent henna to highlight certain body areas and paint strategic arrows.
Apparently a plus point of a power cut is that no one notices if you haven't changed the sheets.

Hello Cheyenne!

Wednesday night a branch broke off a tree, and knocked the power out.It was 90º that day.

The power went out at 5:30,and came back on at mid-night.So I had a little bon-fire out in my yard, and some ice-cold beers.

I use oil lamps alot.Mainly in the winter. But like the other night,I had one on in the house to see.

Well have a great time on your vacation!
