Lit' Awards

That's not a voting poll, is it? If my candidate of choice is already mentioned (and she is), I can stfu, and await some voting later, right?

you know who you are

What's stfu?
It just says one nom per member. You could nominate someone that's already nominated--like second the nomination. I don't think it matters. But if I remember correctly, there will be a voting thread later.
Where are you L? You know everything.

stfu = shut the fuck up

Which I'll do too. I'm too torn to nominate just one anyway.

well i wanted lauren and eve and rybka and darkmaas and perks, lol. maybe we should all just win. :D

Do we get anything for winning? Since we all can't win, just share the winnings with us, Angeline. :D

i think we should do what we want, what each of us feels comfortable with is best. It's true that a poet can be nominated by more that one person. Still, this ain't a popularity contest, I hope. I have mixed feelings about this whole thing. I won last year, and I was proud and humbled--really--by people's support, and at the same time I can think of a few others who did as much or more than I ever did. We all know who these people are.

I guess what I'm saying is that an award is an honor, it is, but there's nothing better that knowing you've earned the friendship and respect of others here whose poetry you admire. That's the real award for me. Honest. :)

All of us here influence each other. We've become a family and this board thrives because of that family. So yes, it is difficult to single out any one individual. I hope everyone who contributes on a regular basis to this board will be nominated. We all deserve a little recognition. Some of us get more than others because of our efforts, or perhaps, extreme personalities. Boy, there are a few of those here. lol
Anyway, what's meant more to me in the past year was the outpouring of huggy kissy when I recently fretted and whined. I try to keep my frets down to a 2 per year minimum, though. And thanks L for the nom. You're a sweet little girl. So... that's all I need. I'm happy. :)

How to Choose?

What is 'influential'?

Last year I nominated Senna Jawa as the most influential poet, firstly because no one else had, and secondly because his irascible manner had caused me to pay extra attention to his words and work in an effort to find fault. When I did so, and eliminated the personality, I found very little with which to disagree. In short I learned a lot, and my writing (and reading eye) was 'influenced'.

This year the choice is not so easy. I am not sure that anyone has influenced me in anywhere near the same manner. Quite a few have helped me, with Lauren(.)Hynde, Angeline, and Wicked Eve being among those in the forefront. Many have impressed me and made me wish I had written one to several of their poems, but does that make them 'influential' when they have not altered how I view or write a poem?

I guess what I am saying is that this year I have no one individual who I could single out as affecting me more than any other poet.
If I could, I would, as implied by some others, nominate this forum as the thing/place/poets on Literotica that has had the biggest influence on me during the last year.

When it comes later on to voting I fear that even if I resorted to coin flipping I would have an exorbitant amount of legal tender balanced on their edges. :)

Regards, Rybka

PS: Thank you WE for your kind words, :rose:
but I don't see how I could ever be called influential when my Muse is dead. :(
Annoying yes - but influential??

I think that it doesn't matter how many times an author gets nominated. Last year everyone mentioned even once showed up at the poll, which will be up in February, but there were only nine nominees. If there are more than ten Laurel will have to find a way of choosing only a few... I have no idea how, and have a feeling she doesn't either *chuckles*

I think that we all bring something to the board and that's what makes it so special. Like Angeline said, I do have an unwavering belief in the poetry forum as a good, constructive place, and we're all responsible for it. No matter who wins, the important is what we get from being in this place, what we learn from each other, the support we get.

Oh, last year the winners got one of these. I keep all my smut in it and take it everywhere with me. :)

Edited to add:
Thank you for those two nominations, Ange. You're the best. :rose:

She only ever flashes one, and the (.) was also meant to indicate her name change.

What happened to lauren's dot? (I started to ask what happened to lauren's period but then I realized that I might get some odd responses.)
