I usually don't get anything for Christmas, so it's not like I ever figure on it. This year, my daughter gave me a christmas ornament she made in school. A friend of mine sent me a copy of Stephen King's The Stand in pdf form, so I could enlarge it on my pc and read it. It's my favorite book and I've not been able to read it for 3 years since my vision really started going to hell. I also got to spend a couple hours on the phone with Draco. :)

Those things may not seem like much to some, but to me, it's a wonderful Christmas. The love behind each of those things means more to me than anything else in the world.

I'm a very rich man today!

I gave pieces of my art, and I made a website for my parents (those handy people - they make gorgeous furniture and accessories!). The piece I gave to my grandmother got ripped in half when she was a bit rough with the packaging. Luckily it taped nicely on the back, and it was one of the funniest things I've seen today! Juspar hasn't gotten his present yet... he needs to get his bootay on up here so I can give it to him. My family isn't always appreciative of my art, but one day when I'm dead and gone, maybe it'll be worth the paper it's drawn on. ;) The best present I got really was that Bible. It's dedicated to my Nana, and I cried long and hard because I knew it must have meant a lot to both of my grandparents to give me something that they felt was life itself. It has my name engraved on it, and on the inside it has pages where I can write events, marriages, family trees, etc. I promised my grandfather that I would read the Book of Luke and Psalm 139 (?). I'm trying to draw him an angel that he can hang above his bed.

Something eerie happened: a few nights after my Nana died, my dad woke up and went outside because the windchimes that she had loved were ringing, and the wind started whipping around. Grandfather got up, too, but when Dad tried to talk to him, he didn't hear him. He was obviously in deep grief. So today, we opened out presents, and low and behold, there was an identical set of chimes for our family. Everytime they ring, I know we'll think of Nana.

I got:
To spend a whole day with my children.
To see the determination my son keeps burried deep inside, as he refused to quit learning to ride his new bike.
To exhaust my daugher :D

Framed photos of the kids, they made the frames.

A day with my babies, to play and hug and laugh and all the stuff I miss when I'm not with them.

A long talk with my ex's Mom, who is still a good friend of mine, who reminded me that not everythign will remain as it is and that the best days with my kids and my ex are still to come.

A loan from two of my best friends - with an indeterminate payback date - to fix the transmission in my car, which is currently in NY. :)

All in all, a very good Christmas.
