so I usually wear no make up but that can be a problems.

Certain guys assume I wear lipstick because my lips are always red when they are around, other things happen too but they don't know this.

Clients and such seem to feel better if I appear to be wearing makeup, so do my GF's when I go out now. What I usually do is slap some vaseline on my lips and call it good. However recently I had decided on lipstick, fuchsia lipstick so it doesn't look like I am just happy to see any one.

I got this one:
MAC Zen Rose Sheen Supreme Lipstick
but I really want this one
Shiseido Fuchsia RS 320 Perfect Rouge Lipstick

What do you guys think?

How long does a lipstick usually last if you use it once a day? Any tricks?

I think I might also line/smudge my upper eyelids to balance the lipstick but other than that I don't plan on doing any more. My skin is very fair and in fairly good condition. I do wear micro zinc sunscreen which seems to even out my whiteness ;).

I love Mac and nars is amazing as well if you're ever looking for something else. I ALWAYS use Lip liner, it helps it last, but it prevents feathering and just helps make your application nice and neat. Makeup academy makes a colorless one that you can use with any shade. Also putting on one coat, blotting it, and then doing another one helps it last if you have no liner or cant be bothered.

Thanks, I will check it out!

Get a good lip liner, with bright and light pinks you want a matching shade and not darker (pet peeve light pink with a darker lip liner looks odd) The lip liner will help lipstick not bleed.

do you just use it to line or do you cover your lip with it? On first?

Depending on the day and what I'm doing, usually I use either a tinted lip balm or a lip stain with tinted balm over the top.
I gave up on lip liner because no matter what I do I cannot get it right! Using a lip stain crayon is a lot easier for me

If you have a liner in a similar shade (and many lipsticks make coordinating liner colors) you can absolutely color the whole lip with the liner. I do it all the time, and sometimes will just use it alone with gloss or Vaseline over it. But if you anticipate using lipstick on a regular basis, liner is an absolute must have. It doesn't have to be expensive, I have dollar store brands that are my holy grails. If you do use liner, you use it first whether you cover your whole lip or not. Also make sure you prep beforehand, with scrub and a tiny bit of the foundation you might be using. That also helps it last and really pop. Even if the color is nice, I've seen shitty lipstick applications and it can ruin looks. If everything is on point, even if it's not your color, as long as it looks good as far as the technicalities are concerned, it can work.

Just to add onto this, tinted balms are amazing. Clinique Chubby Sticks, L'oreal Color Riche, and Baby Lips are so good. You basically just use them like you would chapstick, and don't have to put so much effort/thought into it.

I tried on the strawberry chubby stick but it seemed to yellow to me, I am definitely wanting cool colors. I will check out L'oreal.

I use Natio timted balm and Rimmel stain.

would it be weird for a person just to were lipstick? I could layer it lightly?

No, as long as the lipstick doesn't bleed. You could put clear gloss over it for an extra soft look.

okay, thanks! I am off to sleep if those boys will stop talking about their books and topics lists for a while...

I haven't heard of Natio, but Rimmel is such a good drugstore brand. They have so many Mac dupes it's crazy. Their WOW lash mascara is my absolute holy grail, even after trying YSL and other more pricy brands. And it only costs like 8 bucks which i can't argue with. Sometimes if you just do a little homework it isn't necessary to spend so much on pricier brands. A plus to that is many cheaper brands don't use animal testing.

If you're asking if it's weird to just use lipstick and nothing else, not at all. I often wear dark, matte lip colors with just a fresh face and I love how it looks. The only thing is, if I don't use any other product, I avoid shiny, shimmery colors and stick with mattes.

We have Natio here in Oz. Their tinted lip balm is $4-95 and is lightly staining, so I usually only need to apply it twice a day :)

NARS is really TOO good. I swore by Mac exclusively for a long time, but then I discovered NARS lip color in Tolede, and literally fuck everything else. I still love Mac and studio fix and a lot of their lip colors, but nars is where it's at. I love mattes, and I can't think of another brand aside from theirs that makes great matte colors that don't dry your lips out or feather immediately.

I almost never wear makeup, Noor, and wearing lipstick makes me feel like I'm playing dress-up so I usually don't. On the occasions that I do, I have a few absolutely gorgeous colors from Chanel that I wear matte, with no liner or gloss, and they're very pretty.

Lip stains have been my go-to product. My favorites are Tarte and Benefit (which also doubles as a cheek color):

I have light pink lips and a small mouth. I find layering color 1) helps it to last throughout the day, and 2) gives lips dimension.

I like to buy lip pencils and stains in neutral and nude colors, then buy lipsticks and glosses with a little bit more of a color "pop" to them and apply them over the nude base. For everyday, I like to make a neutralish base lip, then build color on top of that. I think it looks more 3-D, shimmery, and natural. For going out at night or special occasions, I'll sometimes layer thin coats of lipstick for more coverage, which gives a more made-up "party" effect.

My lip makeup routine:

1) dab on a lip puffing agent like Lip Venom, let it sit while I do my foundation/blush/eyes

2) apply a neutral lip stain

3) line my lips with a neutral pencil, then filling in the top lip with pencil.

4) dab a bit of white shiny highlighter gloss (you can use Benefit's High Beam for this, or any white cream glossy-type stuff, or even a soft white pencil if it's blendable enough) on the center of my lower lip, and a wee bit on my Cupid's bow, blending lightly

5) OPTIONAL: if I want more coverage, I apply either a layer of neutral lipstick over the entire lip surface (including on top of the highlighter)

6) apply a colored gloss, usually one with a wee bit more color, over the lip pencil. If I applied lipstick, I usually only apply gloss in the center half of my lips.
