How do you make reference to @username in a story, when submitting with a word doc?

I usually just use author’s notes where I mention the names of authors whose work I’m referencing. Example- see my story Counseling (https://literotica.com/s/counseling-ch-01). The intro mentions that I am including nods to the works of Lit authors KMB & Nick Scipio. Ch. 2 of the same story includes the exact mentions of the authors’ works- the Pines camp Evan’s family attends is Nick’s creation and the mansion in Malibu visited by Rose McGowan is KMB’s. Both mentions were given with permission since the authors are online acquaintances of mine.

Edit- Nick Scipio had stories on Lit at the time I published Counseling. They’ve since been removed since he went pro. 2 chapters of KMB’s Harem series are still here.

Also- if anyone wants to reference my work in a story it’s fine. Just know that it can’t be canon with my ficverse unless you pay me the courtesy of asking first and describing exactly what you plan, then following through as described. If you don’t follow through as promised, I will disavow any knowledge of your stories.

Apologies if you were only inquiring about one stage of this process.
If you mouse over the name that you just posted you'll see a link to their profile. In this case:
https://forum.literotica.com/members/67631/
So you could go to people's profiles and copy that address, I suppose (either their forum profile or story profile). The messaging system probably only works here in the forum, though, so I doubt they'll get alerts if it's posted in a story. But you can use the Insert > Link function in Word to attach the link to the text of their name.
Again, apologies if you already knew some or all of this and I misunderstood the question.

Does this work when you then publish? That's the key point here. I publish my stories by uploading a word doc. Will such links carry across?

Well, I haven't tried that specific case myself, but the link will get sent with the file, and whatever they use to convert formatting to HTML markup will function unless they disable it. They will be able to see it is an internal reference to another page on the site so they should let it fly, unless there's some rule about only linking to stories or art files or the like. But since the profiles are public I would think you'd get waved on through.
