Lingerie question

Since everyone else is asking . . .

What's a good brand of plus size bras? I used to by these ones that were specially made for me (chuh-ching), but the person I bought them from died. (She was elderly.) I went to the only plus size bra place 'in the area' and bought what they suggested and I hate them.

Elomi is a UK brand that goes up to a HH cup and 46 band, but it's a English HH - which means generous; they're also not very expensive ($50-90).

Prima Donna goes up to an I cup in some styles, and 46 band (select styles), but is in the $115-200 range.

Fantasie/Freya might be options as well; it would depend on size.

I personally dislike Panache; although it does serve its purpose for very full busts. However, I always recommend felting the wire, as it's very stiff and tends to pinch under the arms. :(

I can't help with any store suggestions, but I'm a firm believer that nothing is a viable wardrobe option. No sizing is required. Do hair and makeup, maybe put on a pair of heels or maybe not.

Short of that, a pretty bra and pantie set, garter and thigh highs like someone else suggested is a nice option.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of body painting something lingerie-like. Not quite like this but it's the general idea. I haven't looked into it too much (I'm not very artsy and unless B did the painting, he'd rightfully question the artist).

Thanks. I wear a 40JJ. Yes, I've been professionally measured. That means Elomi won't work. Honestly, I'm willing to spend a bit to have a bra that fits properly. My last well fitting bras were between 75 and 100 dollars. And I won't wear an underwire - I have yet to find a bra in my size that has an underwire that doesn't think it's main goal in life is to permanently scar me. (I kid you not, I have scars from underwires.)

I can commiserate. I have scars as well, and infact blew out a wire at work today stabbing myself. There is a website called HerRoom which offers a selection of large size bras in styles without underwires.. I think they run $40 US and up..

i wear a 40DDD and LOVE the Cacique line from Lane Bryant. I'm too "soft" for the plunges which give great cleavage because i fall out of them if i bend over but for everyday wear some of the other styles are fabulous for me. They last like crazy and the wires have never poked thru the fabric. maybe because i never ever put them in the dryer? Been wearing them about 4 years, try to buy them when it's buy 3 get one free with a $25 or $50 off coupon because they are pretty expensive but after dozens of years of ill fitting bras it's worth it!

For some of my naughty wear i use lingeriediva.com Fairly decent selection of plus sizes :D

My sister has scars, too. I know lots of women with underwire scars, and most are large breasted. The problem is that underwires are made to cup the breast, and push them from your body (which is slimming and makes clothes fit better) but when you get larger quite often your breasts go back to under your arm pit. (In fact, most women have at least a little breast tissue back there. If you have to have your breast removed because of cancer they take tissue all the way back to your armpit area.) I've never seen an underwire that goes that far back, and until I do (or I lose weight) I won't wear an underwire.

Of course, I'm hoping that I'll drop down to a 'normal' size as I continue to lose weight. By normal, I mean a DDD or less, cause then I can buy my bras in the store. I've worn underwires at DD and DDD, just not any bigger than that. Then, after I've lost the weight, I'm going to get breast reduction surgery, cause I'm only 5' tall and a DDD or even a DD is a bit large for someone my size. Not to mention my pre-existing back problems.

lingerie

being short also 5'2" and 40DD but I have a smaller waist than is normal for my upper body. Shoulders like a linebacker. I find I can go with a smaller band size if I get them backless at the bridal store they usually have detachable straps and fit like my lace up or adjustable corsets and still give plenty of suport i guess this is mostly due to fact that they are designed for wedding dresses or formals, but they fit them to you when you go in and are usually fairly comfortable.

I dislike Panache too. The underwire pinched terribly.

I can recommend Hips and Curves. I have a few items from there - a corset and a long white lace chemise with matching robe (although I tend never to wear it for some reason!). The fit is excellent. If shipping wasn't so expensive to the UK, I'd get more of there products.

Reading this thread reminds me having small boobs could be a good thing ^.^

I wish OP the best of luck, but I can't offer much help as I have the opposite problem. Mostly that I'm mismatched b/c I'm a smaller size on top, but large on the bottom. However I've been seeing a lot more stores do the mix-n-match thing so that helps.

YourPlayDoll- couldn't agree more...if you can't find it, make it yourself. It's hard for more intricate stuff, but to get things to fit I've simply cut down the side seam of them and added as much material as I needed then sewed it back up again. You can make interesting color contrasts and a more slimming silhouette this way if you choose a darker color.

Been looking for a one-piece, strapless "teddy" (I guess) w/ some sort of boned structure. Full coverage on the torso, and 'hip hugging" style where it doesn't end at the top of the thigh, but the bottom. Like a 40's pin-up shealth bathing suit style, but made of leather or silk... anyone know what this is called or know anyone who sells them?

lingerie is a must for any girl!

Try Torrid and Hips and Curves online
The experience I have had is that Torrid sizes are right on the money and Hips and Curves runs a little small in only corsets but that was probabaly the mirror plying tricks on me I thought I was smaller dang it! Torrid also has shops in the mall they are like hot topic for big girls! Good Luck:)

this sounds quite delightful, kelly - I like to play with a woman who is properly dressed - anal sex with a sub in a pretty corset can be exquisite....

Being "plus sized" I've had a hard time finding lingerie that is sexy and sized properly so I'm sure trying to shop online for such items will be a nightmare as well. Have been in a couple of adult stores and left empty handed both times, they stuff they call plus wouldn't even fit across my chest and I'm a 46D.

Does anyone have suggestions? good website you've shopped at maybe?

I know there are BBW women here so I'm hoping for some help.

Personally I've never really been into it but men are visual creatures and dang, I just love pleasing them....:devil:

You could try http://www.biggalslingerie.com/ . Obviously I don't shop in the USA but the one thing that I do find when shopping for larger sizes is that, if you get anything with suspenders, they have a tendency to snap off if at all stretched. Try and make sure they're sewn on rather than just a feeble grip-fastening that a lot of cheaper items have.

Okay, dumb question here.... But how exactly do you get a proper bra measurement? I've never had a professional fitting... I've just eyeballed the racks and grabbed what looked right. To be honest, I mostly wear racer backed sports bras (because I'm "lucky" enough to be built like a boy :( ). I just hate it when the sales ladies look at me and send me to the preteen section... So how do they measure you?

Measuring around your body, just under your breasts, will give you band size.

Measuring around, over the fullest part of the breasts, and the difference between the two will determine your cup size.

Or something like.

Example, but for Aus sizes

Morning All,

Have you taken a look at Fredericks of Hollywood online? I know their bras only go up to a 44F but they have plenty of lingerie that goes to a 3X. That might work. They have lots of clearance so its pretty cheap which is a bonus and I dont feel bad when I only use it once. It might be that the lingerie will fit the body but the boobs will spill out some in a one piece. Thats usually what happens to me with lingerie because i'm bigger on top. They like that anyway :)

I simply have to jump in on this one

to the person who wants strapless with boned bodice I think Basque might be the correct term (not 100% certain with the panty attatched, there might be a different word for that one)..... Bustier would be Strapless with Boned Bodice but stopping at the waistline.... Merry Widow is similar to Bustier but stops a bit lower at the top of the thigh.... the only other term I can think of that might be applicable is Body Briefer... and in a 1950s style, the body briefer would have the panty leg in keeping with your description... but I am not sure if a body breifer typically has the strapless bra-top... I think they typically stop just under-bust so you can go topless or with your own bra

If you are looking for someone to make one... I would suggest explaining by saying you want a garment with the mid-section & strapless bra of a Basque with the bottom section made like a 50s styled Body Briefer

My mom used to own a bridal shop & made all sorts of bridal & dance gowns as well as custom undergarments... I will try to remember to ask her about the terminology for your desired garment

As it relates to Bras...
In my late teens-early 20s... I wore a 38 I (yes I like Igloo)
Impossible at that time to find in the US...
You couldn't even find the proper bra-making supplies because you could not ever order underwires for larger than DDD....
that is when I found Rigby & Peller
they are the folks who make the Lingerie for the Queen of England
and they were able to provide me with bras in my size
Extremely expensive.... in '85 I was averaging $150 for each bra
but well worth it in fit, form, comfort, and support

The place I used to order from is still in business:
http://www.wizardofbras.com/

I seriously doubt that my breasts would have been in such great shape as I went into my mid-30s if it weren't for the proper support provided by bras that fit right

The only underwire issues that I ever had were from Bras that I bought trying to find a lesser-expensive alternative.... underwire went up under my arm .... the slight amount of pressure when my arms were relaxed caused my arms to feel numb & also ground into my shoulders...

Rigby & Peller
Fantasie of England

were 2 brands I could always count on for fit, comfort, quality & support

Freya didn't fit me correctly... the width of my breasts was not well-suited to their more narrow breadth of bra cup... would have worked well for someone who felt like the cups in R&P or FOE were to wide for them

Panache fit but were not supportive... often times they had designs that were more "fun" (front hooks, push-ups, etc...) and made for good play-wear but not the support needed to wear all day at work

Okay... well talk to the Lady at The Wizard of Bras... she knows everything there is to know about bras

...... in my late 30s, I had to have a breast reduction.... I was in an auto accident... problems with my back & hips.... even the doc thought it was a shame because my breasts weren't drooping (thanks to well-made bras)

I am forever greatful because I was taken down to a D-Cup.... I can buy cheaper bras & even go braless if I want to.... However, because of the nature of surgery & scars... the down-side.... I will never be able to wear underwire bras again even though they are my preference for shaping & appearance (generally prettier designs in underwired bras)

Hope this is helpful

I'm officially turned on. I don't know why- I just am.

not much use to the OP, but whatkatiedid.com has well structured bullet bras that go up to a 40 F size, also Pleasure State are an aussie company who make beautiful lingerie in larger sizes (VIP range) and they fit wonderfully.

Bravissimo is another UK company that specialises in plus size bras.

But if I were really huge, then I think I'd consider getting bras made to measure. my mother's friend did and wished she had done it years ago. It IS expensive(ish), but the difference is huge, plus they last really well (assuming you don't change size too much).
