There was a particular style of lingerie/underwear that seems to have been primarily popular in the 80s. They were V-shaped panties with full gussets but bands (either full width or g-strings) that went up sharply over a woman's hip bones.

These images show decent examples:

Do/did those style of panties have a specific name to them, or were they just ways of wearing types of panties that already have other names (i.e. the ones in the first 2 pictures would probably be G-strings)?

3 also looks like a flutter-kini (circa 90s) -- my kryptonite -- which I wish I could still find for my wife.
I think "high cut" may have been a marketing term for what you seek. Very erotic for wearing around the house.

1, 2, and 4 are V-Strings*. 3 is a Tanga. You can get them at Victoria Secret right now. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're having a 7 for $35 sale,
1, 2, and 3 are worn with what I'd call a basque.

PS. panties are kind of my kryptonite. I reorganized my underwear drawer not too long ago and counted over 400 pair... 😬
I think that qualifies as a fetish...🤭
You go girl!

This is one of those things which would be very useful if pinned somewhere as an authors' resource - a simple chart showing different types of lingerie. Most men haven't a clue. I'm sure there are much better ones out there; this is just an example.

And, PLEASE, an explanation of how brassiere sizes work! (Pet peeve.)

They don't.
It's a crap shoot.

The same size for different brands all fit differently. And heaven help you if you buy from overseas, EU sizing to US sizing, CM to inches...
Supposedly, the band size is the measurement just under the bust and the cup is determined by the difference of that measurement to the measurement over the fullest part of the breast(3" would be a C cup), except when it's not. Then you get into complementary sizing where a 34 C would be complimentary to a 34 D and a 36 B.

Again, different brands fit differently. But then, this just means that we girls get to go shopping and try all kinds of stuff on, so I guess it has advantages... :)

I think we just need a pinned thread "ShelbyDawn57's lingerie ID service".
The boys can post pictures of something and @ShelbyDawn57 can tell them what it is supposed to be called.
It's pure win.

Some of you guys are going to hate this, I'm sure, but there is an explosive growth in "ladyboxers" lately. To wit:

Have to confess, among my vast collection, I have some of these, too. AS the ad says, they are very comfy. :)

I'm still amazed by the size of your collection.
I used to wonder if I had a problem, now I'm all "Yeah, totally amateur hour over here."

Totally not my fault. I hate doing laundry and Victoria keeps having ridiculous sales on her Secrets.

Three men can keep Victoria's Secret if two of them are dead. Or something like that.
