Islandman, I was born and raised in the suburbs above NYC.

As for what brought me here, I wanted to be a teacher but I didn't major in education. I knew that the city was the only place that would hire me, so my (then) boyfriend and I moved in together in Queens. His mom owns a 2 family house, so we had the top floor and the basement while renters had the bottom floor.
