I'm a leather sir (dominant) seeking a male or female as an assistant for research on 19th- and 20th-century history (both gay history and non-gay history). This would be a working dominant/submissive relationship, akin to master/servant or lord/liegeman relationships of the past, where the relationship was based on service, but the bond between the master and his servant extended into the personal realm.

I'm a graduate of Master Taino's Master Training Academy in Northern Virginia, have spent time with a leather/levi club, and am mentored by a gay leatherman who is a national leader in the Master/slave community. I've been nominated for a major leather award for my leather writings. I'm also a professional author of vanilla fiction and nonfiction, both gay and non-gay.

This relationship would be pure dominance and submission. Sex, SM, bondage, fetish, and age-play would not be part of the relationship; you would be free to seek that elsewhere. Mutual affection and respect are among my goals for this relationship.

Depending on your background in doing research, I hope that I can provide you with mentoring in research and writing, within the context of the work I do. I benefitted from such mentoring when I was much younger, and I would like to pass that gift on to someone else.

I'm seeking a service-oriented person who has had some experience in doing research - even if it was only for schoolwork - and has access to one or more of the following: an academic library (such as a university library), a large public library (such as a public library in a major city), a GLBT library, or the Web (for online research). Good written communication skills are important, since much or all of our communication will be online.

If you live within travelling distance, we can also meet for conversations, for research trips to libraries, for practice of DS protocol, or for visits to events held by the Baltimore/D.C. leather and BDSM communities.

Please be honest about whatever needs you have that go beyond giving this service, so that we can discuss whether I can provide for those needs. I'm open to hearing from submissives and slaves of any gender, age, appearance, and orientation; nor does it matter whether you are able-bodied or disabled. All that matters is whether you can do this sort of work and are interested in this type of DS relationship.

Since this would be a working relationship, please address me formally if you write, and please let me know what title you are addressed by formally - either a BDSM/leather title such as slave john or a vanilla title such as Ms. Smith. I'd like to know your previous experience with research, what background you have (or don't have) in leather or BDSM, as well as any information about your general background that could help me to better understand what you are seeking.

MY GENDER

I'm biologically female, with an androgynous gender identity. Somebody with a sense of humor gave me a bisexual male orientation.

As a result, I'm male-identified within the leather community; I use male titles and prefer male pronouns. (I'm not a transsexual or cross-dresser.) However, since I'm androgynous, I can't project unending masculinity. I keep wandering back and forth over the line between feminine and masculine, usually without any conscious effort on my part. So I would be best suited for someone for whom gender is not an issue.

MY PHILOSOPHY

One of my sig texts reads: "Care and Guidance || Mutual Trust | Mutual Respect | Mutual Honor | Mutual Service | Mutual Love || Obedience and Submission." The first duty (care and guidance) is what I owe to my boy, girl, or boi; the last (obedience and submission) is what he or she owes to me; the rest are what we owe to one another.

As a result of my spiritual background, I consider leadership to be a form of service. I wish to be a "servant master," as the phrase sometimes goes. After considering what service of leadership I could best offer to a boi/y or girl, I decided that literary/historical mentoring was my strength, since I've informally mentored other writers and researchers in vanilla contexts.

Some people think of DS as a straight line, with the dominant at the top of the line and the submissive at the bottom. I consider DS to be a triangle, with both the dominant and the submissive serving something higher than themselves - in this case, the writing projects we work on together. Like a priest and his acolyte, a Congressman and his aide, and an officer and his soldier, our goal would be to strive for excellence in completing tasks together.

At the same time, my mind and spirit are of a hierarchical nature, so I would enjoy having someone working under me - and indeed, this type of work requires one person to be in charge.

I'm therefore searching for someone who receives enjoyment from submitting to the (reasonable) orders of another person, and who is actively interested in doing this type of work.
